Circumcision

Has anyone got their baby boy circumcised? How did it go and how was the recovery? Not looking for anyone to pass judgement

Hi, My baby was 12 days when he had it done around the Stamford Hill area. He recovered pretty well. But it was a painful experience. He cried the first night. He is still sore but healing fast as well.

Got my baby circumcised 5 days old, and he handled it very well. The sooner you do it, the better I feel like! Little man was only really uncomfortable the first day and afterwards, handled everything great and only got upset during diaper changes

Hi, my baby was around 2 weeks old and recovered really quick! No signs of discomfort, just sometimes a little sensitive when wiping during nappy change!

No judgement at all, just looking to be informed - why do some choose to circumcise? I know religion can play a part as well as medical reasons. I’m just curious.

Hiya i had my first boy done around 2 months ish - they say its to try before 3 months because of learning to roll. As someone mentioned above the sooner the better! But i can say when they bring them out its abit emotional because there crying and that was quite hard for me however once he had a bottle and slept about half hour or so after he was fine wouldnt of even known he had it done and was heeled in about a week a think it was so in all it was a quick/ ok experience but i cant say i dont dread it for my second boy. Best of luckk i hope everything for your little one goes well🌸

@Rachel cleanliness - it’s deemed to be cleaner to remove the foreskin and prevents further problems in later life, in some countries/ cultures it’s standard practice and often done at the hospital before leaving after delivery. Personally, as I live in the UK I decided to get this done privately by a very trusted private surgeon as my husband is Jewish (I’m not) and this is something that we have always agreed on, the surgeon we got was also Jewish so it was more of a religious practice than anything

@Ana thank you for explaining. I was certainly aware that at some point I was going to need to teach my boy about his foreskin and proper cleaning but as someone who doesn’t own a penis I’m not sure how to go about it. I didn’t really consider circumcision as a factor of cleanliness and assumed it was more a rite of passage within religious practice.
