Cervical Examinations

Being induced later 🫠 I’m told I’ll need my cervix examined when I arrive to assess how dilated / long it is. Did anyone have this? Just wondering if it’s painful? Did you ask for gas and air if so?

not painful at all, i didn’t need gas and air to be checked for dilation, its super quick too! they’ll let you know that you can tell them to stop if at ANY point it gets uncomfortable/painful. ❤️

I used gas and air

I didn’t find it that painful, uncomfortable sure but most of the time pain free.

I was induced with my wee one! I had my cervix checked by my midwife in the morning before my induction was booked. It wasn’t sore just took your breath away for a second. I managed to get an induction slot for that night and got my cervix checked again, found it a little more uncomfortable than the first time but still not sore. I got my cervix checked again the following day while in labour but at this point I was on gas and air and didn’t feel a thing really!
