Induced tomorrow!

Hi all, need some advice please. I’m 40 weeks today and have been told that baby might be on the bigger side but nothing to worry about apparently and normal delivery should be fine. However due to my age, 39 they would like to induce me tomorrow. Was hoping baby would come naturally before then but nothing has happened yet. Not sure if they are just suggesting this or if it’s better to just ask for a c section? Any advice please! Thanks

you can 100% deny an induction. i was induced 7 months ago and it took 4 days.. in that time i would have hit 40 weeks and baby could have made an apperance on his own. i was induced because they thought he was small but he was a healthy 6lbs 3oz (im not big and neither is his dad) if you would rather wait to go naturally then definatly tell them asap🥰

@Alice i had same situation 2.5 years ago. Just my induction took 5 days and ended up csection anyway

@Natalia i wish i declined! i had to have a second degree episiotomy and was on that much medication i dont even remember his birth😫

Unless you’ve had a c-section before, I would advise against choosing it personally. People are under the impression the natural birth is harder, and for many it can be, but anyone that’s had a c-section is an absolute warrior in my eyes. I wouldn’t wish the recovery and looking after a newborn on anyone. I’m not sure how these women do it. Amazing…. It’s a HUGE operation and no walk in the park. I’d as if you’re able to postpone the induction and wait a little longer until your body is ready. I had to be induced as my little one was high risk and in the low percentiles. But if you’re happy and healthy, I’d ask if I could wait! Good luck other wise! Sending love and strength. 🥰

What about the risk of baby getting too big if I wait though? That’s what they’ve said, they don’t want me to go past my due date which is today.

How thick are they laying it on in terms of concern? Like genuinely worried or? I had all sorts of tubes, wires and drips because they were worried about my little one, the minute she came out, they checked her weight, (she was what they said she’d be), and they didn’t even bat an eyelid. Went through the trauma of an induction for no reason. But as a first time mum, they were fear mongering and I was scared I’d lose my daughter, I had no reason to question them and knew no better. Are you able to get a second opinion?

May I ask how much baby is weighing?

All they’ve said is baby is on the bigger side, and cause of my age, nothing else. They offered it to me at 39 weeks but I said no and waited an extra week but nothing has happened yet. Hoping when I go in tomorrow I’m close anyway and not much needs to be done. This is my first baby. Unfortunately no time for a second opinion

I declined induction but had a couple of sweeps then went into labour at 41 weeks 3 days

there is always time ti say no.. its your body! they will try their hardest to push for induction but ultimately its ur choice x

I was so glad to be induced with a larger baby. I didn’t want to be induced but he didn’t come on his own. I had dilated but due to a lack of waters I don’t think I could have gone on my own and had contractions until I had the gel. I didn’t know I was having a big baby so went with a natural birth. He got stuck on my pelvic and had to be cut to get him out quickly (episiotomy) Had I have known he was going to be big I would have opted to be induced at 38/39 weeks instead of the 41 weeks that I was. I was so adament I didn’t want to be induced and seeing messages on here saying you could decline it too made me go longer in my pregnancy, and I wish I hadn’t x

I do wish I’d known so I could have had the option for a c section, but saying that, sometimes the weight is estimated and not necessarily accurate so they could come out smaller than expected. Mine was the opposite way round 😂
