Winding down (slowly)?

When is everyone cutting back on pumping and starting to dig into their freezer stash?

How old is your baby and how much is in the freezer?

About to turn 10 months and I have maybe 50-60 200ml bags.

@Tara how much does your baby drink per bottle?

@Tara if my baby was 10 months old, I would need about one and a half times added to what you have in the freezer

Thanks, @Xena! I’m not quitting cold turkey, just curious about when others have started winding down the pace, especially once starting solids. I do plan to keep breastfeeding either by pump or nursing until baby decides he is done.

*Also my freezer physically will not hold any more and I’ve already donated gallons to my local hospital back when I had an oversupply.

@Tara my baby has been eating solid food since four months old and he typically drinks 20 ounces a day of milk once they hit 11 months they typically only do feeding in the morning and feeding at night and then when they get to 12 months they switch to cows milk My goal is to continue pumping until I reach about 9 to 10 months and then I will just breast-feed directly the remainder

@Tara ask family that lives nearby to help store some in their freezer. With my first two, I stopped pumping around 15 months. I had milk lasting for awhile after and I also gradually stopped pumping over a 6 week period

Thanks @Karolyn! I live in another country to my family and I’m not really interested in hoarding any more milk, especially since the stuff I already have stashed is already past the practical expiry. I’m just curious as to when others have started slowly winding down and dropping pumps. Thanks in advance!

@Tara then I’d feed baby the old stuff and save the newer stuff

I slowed down pumping at 11 months and included Kendamil Goat formula in the bottles to give my stash a boost since I wanted to have breastmilk up to 2 years. By 14 months I completely stopped producing 💓
