Gagging on mucus

My little girl is 4 weeks and has picked up a cold from her sister 😫 she’s so snotty and I can’t lie her down because she starts gagging/choking on the snot. The only way she can sleep comfortably is upright on my chest, but I can’t sleep with her like this, what should I do!? 😫 I’m going to buy one of those snot sucker things tomorrow to help clear her airways but right now I don’t know what to do and feel so sorry for her :(

My little one is 3 weeks and the same! I have a nose sucker thing which doesn’t do a lot at all so if you or anyone have other tips then I’d be so greatful! x

Would have posted this myself🥹. My 3-week-old caught the flu from her niece, who got it from the nursery. It has been a rollercoaster for me as a FTM. My baby has been seriously struggling, and I feel so sorry for her as she finds it very difficult to breathe, especially at night. It was so bad two nights ago that we had to call 111, and they asked us to go to the hospital. After many checks, everything seemed okay apart from her suspected blocked nostrils, but they couldn’t do much as she’s still so little. We asked the pediatrician if we could get ‘Saline Nasal Spray,’ and she said yes. We got it immediately after we left the hospital and I would say it helped a little. We’ve also been using warm water to massage her nose and then applying a cultural palm kernel oil I got from home. This has really helped, and she seems 10 times better. I think you should try massaging the nose with warm water and a little oil if you like xx

saline drops for her nose and then use the snot sucker after, humidifier in the room at night, tilt her cot slightly and keep an eye on her for any worsening symptoms especially with breathing. my baby caught a cold from her brother and it turned into RSV and she had to be hospitalised x

Our little boy struggles too at nights. GP did checks and all seemed fine. She told us to get baby wicks and rub it on his clothes not on skin directly, saline spray and dehumidifier. Currently waiting for dehumidifier to arrive but other two helped a lot. Hope this helps you too 😊
