What age can/should a baby go into cot for naps?

My nearly 7 week old hates his Moses basket now (he’s a really long baby and he’s starting to outgrow it already 🥲) and he will not settle in it. When we’re sat downstairs we don’t have anywhere else for him to sleep when I’m doing things and don’t want him to get dependent on contact naps even though I love them 🥹 We have his cot up in his nursery and I’ve got a baby monitor. Am I allowed to put him in at this age and keep checking on him?

i don’t see why not. But if you have next-to-me cot, id suggest you take it down to replace the moses basket. Thats what i’m planning to do as well.

My 3 week old sleeps in a cot of a night and in a crib in the living room of a day so she is always in the same room as me

Mine sleeps in a travel cot bassinet in living room during day
