Consultant led appointment

Hello! I’m 14 weeks pregnant with my second baby, and I have my first consultant led appointment. I have opted for a c section following a traumatic first birth. Also under consultant led due to previous cervix procedures and bleeding during pregnancy. Can any advise on what to expect with a consultant appointment? Thank you! X

I’m also 14 weeks (my first baby) and I have a consultant appointment next Monday and not sure what to expect. Hope everything goes ok for you!!x

They go through a bit of medical history, chat about birth plan and any treatment plan if required through the rest of your pregnancy.

@Liv I can update you if you’d like afterwards 😊

@Aimée thank you. I’m guessing as I’m hoping to opt for a c section they will also inform me about my options? Xx

@Rosa I’d really appreciate that, thank you!!(:

Yes they will. You can absolutely have a section though even if they offer you alternatives.

I had mine last week. They explained why I was consultant led and what they'd recommend for birth and that there'd be a note on file with monitoring in case I have another PPH. Unless I request it I won't have any further consultant appointments but I know that will be based on each individual situation.

My consultant refused to give me the go ahead for a c section and said I’d need another consultant. Gave me stuff to think about though and my chances of baby being wrong way again, chances of episiotomy again and forceps. So I guess I’ll have to think about everything, weigh it up and if I still feel anxious about natural birth and want to opt for a c section then I will have to speak to midwife for a different consultant. X

@Rosa that's so rubbish! It's completely your choice what kind of birth you want! I mentioned at my first midwife appointment that I would like another csection and she said that shouldn't be a problem at all x

@Jprc I’m going to follow it up further as I know i can opt for one if I want one xx

I have my appointment tomorrow. Waiting to see what they say re c-section or induction owing to previous pregnancies
