C section essentials ?

This will be my second c section and with my first I wasn’t prepared no one in my family knew anything about recovery for a c section so it was painful I also had my son at 20 years old and was completely clueless about recovery and things I needed. I would love advice for what I need to make it easier for me to have a good recovery ? Also my other question is when did your milk come in after your c section ?

Your own robe/house coat. I didn't have one with my daughter and I HATED wearing clothes. This time I have one and I feel so much better. I'm comfy, I'm covered and it's easily accessible for the nurses.

Loose underwear and loose clothing. Also a pillow to have in handy to press against your belly for when you need to laugh/sneeze/cough. My milk came in 3 days later .

Definitely a pillow to put pressure on your wound when walking, my milk came in on day 3 and the pain was actually worse than my section 🤔

I love my wedge pillow! To prop myself up I can’t crunch forward 🥹 so that pillow is a blessing!

Big ole high waisted cotton knickers I went two sizes up, a robe, cotton loose pj’s, heavy duty sanitary pads, travel toiletries, different size clothes for the baby incase you get a surprise they are bigger or smaller than anticipated, an I pad to watch things whilst baby sleeps, headphones, a long phone charger lead, nappies again stick a few different sizes in, a baby blanket, all the best snacks you love - you need to treat yourself and plenty of drinks even if it’s just bottled water, for some reason the hospital water just doesn’t taste great. A notepad so you can jot things down you want to remember. Great if you are making a baby book too as you forget and also they give you morphine so you are woozy so remembering isn’t so easy. Post section - an anti slip Matt for your bath or shower, lots of sanitary pads, drinks around the chilling stations you set up, breastfeeding makes you so thirsty. I set up a baby changing station on both floors.

I continued wearing my maternity knickers because they didn’t interfere with my scar. I had spritz for your bitz I think it was called but used it on my scar to clean. Talcum powder is a must for me now it has healed on the outside because I find when it gets hot there it gets itchy and sore! My milk came in I think day 3/4.
