Still HCG in my system after a period?!

I had surgical management of miscarriage 5 weeks ago and had a normal period last week. However I’ve done another pregnancy test today and there’s still a line?! We did TTC twice when I ovulated 3 weeks ago but then I got my period so surely it can’t be a new pregnancy. Plus the line would be stronger by now if I was 3 weeks DPO??

After a miscarriage, you need to wait 3 weeks and test again..

My last pregnancy ended 5 weeks ago

You should have tested 3 weeks after the surgical mc before retrying to conceive. Now they won’t know if it’s a new pregnancy or not fully managed from the last one.

The doctor who performed the surgery told me we could start TTC as soon as I stop bleeding?

You need to do a repeat blood HCG test. If you hormone levels rise between the 2 tests, then you’re pregnant. Your GP should be able to prescribe this to you.

@Shay There were no clots and less painful but it was bright red blood For 3 days

Technically some women do get bleeding in early pregnancy and are fine just make sure you get it checked out and make sure your HCG is raising ,fingers crossed 🤞

I agree with Holly I would let your OB know and see if you can get bloodwork and an ultrasound to make sure everything was removed from the previous pregnancy or to see if you are currently pregnant with a new pregnancy🩷🩵
