Sounds like you are describing my baby! I’d say even though it’s not ideal (mine also feeds every 2h), it does sound like some sort of routine - being more active during the day and sleepy during the night. I am trying to be grateful that it’s not the other way around 😅 During the day if he’s too awake after a feed, we’d burp him, hold him/play for 30min and then give him a small milk top up which makes him fall asleep faster. I’ve realized he needs to be milky drunk to properly sleep, otherwise the sleep is not deep enough.
I could have written this today! Mine is 4 weeks old, but as of yesterday will no longer nap properly! Sometimes She’ll fall asleep but then be up 10 mins later, but often today she won’t fall asleep at all. We had about 15 mins totally sleep between 7-1pm today 😩. Before the weekend she was sleeping for hours!
But also mine will feed really sporadically, she’s breastfed and will sometimes go 3.5 hours, other times can’t wait half an hour!
Ah I'm so glad I read this as I've had the exact same issue this week with my 4 week old. Trying to follow a loose routine seems impossible and then tbh the more I try and follow it the more stressed I get so I've tried to let it go. It's so hard though isn't it because if you could even slightly predict naps life would be so much easier. Anyway sorry no advice just sympathy. It will pass 🙏
I feel you! My first week was like that…Contact naps made mine nap through the day. Once he is in deep sleep I move him to his moses basket extremely slowly. And at night we cosleep. That saved my sanity too. He gets 3 hour sleep during night now. Hope you find what works for you ❤️
Your boy sounds like mine!!! He’s 4weeks 3 days xxx
This is very normal and will probably be the case for a while.. I would suggest accepting that he may need to contact nap or use a sling :) it's not forever x
