Help / advice - open wound

Hi! Has anyone else had their c-section wound reopen? Mine has opened at least 2.5cm in the past 2 weeks and I’m currently 9 weeks pp. It’s constantly leaking like a yellow-ish liquid. GP prescribed anti-biotics and I’m changing the dressing daily. Just been referred to tissue specialists and awaiting an appointment but has anyone been through this and found something that works really well for closing/healing? Really frustrated and just want to be able to move without hesitation of opening even more!!

Not happened to me personally but as a practice nurse my go to combo for an infected wound would be urgoclean Ag it has silver so helps with infection and covered with mepilex border dressings

happened to me and it’s currently infected. in the hospital on iv antibiotics 🥹

Had this problem recently. My OB has me putting betadine on it 3 times daily. Letting it air dry and letting it breathe. Working so far.

I am cut nearing the end of healing from my c section opening. At first I went to the emergency room because I was leaking yellow fluid. They packed my open wound with packing strip iodoform from McKesson. To keep the wound from closing on the outside because the “bottom” of the wound needs to heal first. I was going every other day for week and a half until they could get me into an advanced wound care clinic. From there they gave me more packing items this time using better quality stuff durafiber gelling wound fiber dressing it’s gray and you pack into the wound. Then to pervert the area from being exposed to air I put another dressing over it. This dressing has what looks like a bandaid material on it which will collect any seepage and blood from your wound. The durafiber will also help your body with platelets which look like yellowish discharge but more gray than anything which help your body heal itself. I’ve done this part for 4 weeks packing my wound daily. This is part one.

Part 2 During this time, eat a lot of protein because your body needs this to heal. Also I have been resting as much as I can with my little one. Now in my healing journey today i was cleared to take a normal shower being able to not worry about the wound, possibly being infected by soap or other dirty materials. i’m still putting the top dressing over my wound to keep dirt out of it and to keep air from getting in. Right now, they are telling me to put collagen into my wound to promote my body healing the rest of my wound. The product in collagen matrix with ORC and sliver from 3M. Keep in mind everybody is different so everybody heals at their own pace. My husband has been the one packing my wounds because I can’t see 😅 the wound.

I was also prescribed a wound VAC to promote negative pressure on my wound to bring the bottom of my wound of more towards the surface while sucking out any fluid that would normally collect in an open wound. My wound VAC never came in due to insurance conflict with two different providers, putting in the same order. This canceled my wound VAC order sadly. Due to the products that were being used in my wound care my body healed faster, which is good. Again keep in mind everyone heals differently. Also different providers have different ways of caring for wounds, but ask them questions to understand what’s going on with the care and how you’re healing.

that happened to me. my ob had me pack the opening with iodine strips and cover with gauze to catch any leaking. it was closed by my 6 week checkup
