Wear high waisted supportive underwear

Massage or go get a massage when you’ve fully healed to help break up adhesions and scar tissue

Take it easy and don't try to push yourself. It's okay if the house gets a little messy, you are about to have major surgery! You need the rest! Sleep sitting up flat on your back, easier to get out of bed that way. Accept or ask for any help. You don't have to be super woman and do it all. Put a pillow over your stomach when you sneeze! Or laugh 😅! It feels a little painful in that area for a bit but it'll get better. Enjoy all those newborn snuggles ❤️!

High rise underwear, comfy pjs/clothing that again are high rise. Mine was emergency so wasn’t prepared, but everyone kept telling me to not over do it. I am now nearly 8weeks in and i do overdo it sometimes which i regret. Listen to your body and relax as much as possible. I am going to have a week at home with my baby this week as i have overdone it and feel sore again (it’s a great excuse to just have lots of cuddles on the sofa). It sounds silly but move things in your house that are either too low or too high, so they are at perfect height for you and you don’t need to bend or stretch to get to.

@Grace your comment just reminded me how for the first week or two I didn’t laugh or sneeze out of fear of my scar opening 😂😂😂 it sounds so silly now but I was really scared 😂😂😂

I would recommend walking as soon as you can! It doesn’t feel great at first but the sooner you start, the faster you heal! It worked for me anyways, as soon as I was allowed I was up and walking (the next day) and my healing was amazing, walking with no issues at all around the block at home by the end of the week. Of course don’t push yourself too much, listen to your body, but it is so good to get started moving at least a little bit early! Also don’t be afraid to ask for help, my husband did all the bum changes and a lot of the feeds for the first week. (I pumped so he could help) Good luck mama! 😁

Big knickers for after (I wore frida mom shorts for the first 10 days, then switched to big cotton pants from M&S), stick to the schedule for your pain relief (in the early days set alarms so you don’t miss any overnight ones), drink loads of water, if you get constipated take the meds, take it slow and don’t do too much too soon, I slept on an incline with a load of cushions behind me initially as I found it tough getting up from being flat, don’t lift anything heavier than your baby, keep your scar clean and dry, pillow over your stomach for laughing, coughing or sneezing I had an emergency section 6.5 weeks ago and honestly was really pleasantly surprised by my recovery - I thought it would be awful but it was really manageable and better than expected. Good luck!

@Ninti it's a valid fear because it really feels that way 😂😂

Take movicol or similar to help you go number 2, it can hurt your stomach at first if you strain at all. Roll to your side before getting out of bed. Keep an eye on your incision, wash and gently pat dry after a shower, it’ll heal faster if it’s kept dry. Even if you start to feel normal still take it easy, if not bleeding and discomfort will return, learn from my mistake!

Don’t forget the gas x!

Sleep on a recliner. I got one for $15 on FB Marketplace and it was a life saver

@Gretchen I dont know what that means

Get some Tubigrip from a physio to wear around your waist and hips — it helps you to feel more supported, can help with ab separation, back pain, and just feels really nice around your waist. I wore it daily for a few weeks (not to sleep in).

Don’t rush recovery, take your time and do little steps. Air out your dressing when you can. Take lactulose from the start even if you think you don’t need it. If you have a bath shower get a little step to step over into the bath with. Loose clothes, I only wore nighties to start with. Lots of extra big knickers. Handheld fan for when you get a bit hot, even for a few days etc after. You can lose your appetite so have lots of snacks available to pick at to keep your energy up. You will go through paracetamol and ibuprofen so have lots in. Best of luck xx

I had an unplanned C-section about 16 days ago. High waisted underwear, pants, and dresses are a must. Nothing snug feels good on the belly. Keep on your meds. Walk. Walk. Walk. As hard as that may sound or be it has been my saving grace and I believe has helped me to feel even more back to my normal self quite quickly. Don’t be afraid to ask for help with anything! Let you partner do things for you, let your family and friends do things for you! Take it easy but also from my experience keep moving a little more everyday!

Use the hairdryer on cool/low to dry your wound. It will make sure it is completely dry x
