When did you start driving

I’m 5 weeks post surgery and I’ve pretty much returned to normal, I’d love to start driving again it would make life so much easier as I have to walk my son to nursery tomorrow morning 45 min walk or 8 min drive!! With my son it took me a long time to return to normal but this time I’ve just carried on fine, anyone driven sooner than 6 weeks ? My partner returns to work also tomorrow I’d love to get out and about x

I did a cheeky couple of tiny drives the week before but I wouldn’t do long ones until you’ve seen the GP.

@Steph thank you! Trouble is my GP said they are not doing the checks I asked to be checked with baby and they said they can’t get me a appointment till end of December and to call mid November as they can’t see the diary! 😬

What?! They have to do checks at 6 weeks… that’s bloody ridiculous. Can you ring your health visitor and escalate somehow? X

I started driving a week and a half later. What I was told leaving the hospital was if I can properly shoulder check and hit the break I’m good!

I started at 4 weeks. Just check your insurance policy x

I did a couple of very very short drives (15 minutes ish) after 3 weeks - I was feeling so lonely and isolated and needed to get out of the house and have some of my independence back again. I didn't start driving 'normally' until 6 weeks after x

I have Epilepsy and had my license taken away 13 years ago and 2 weeks ago got it back. Had it for 2 days then had 6 :( so I can't drive again for 6 months

I was 3 weeks 🙈

I was 3 weeks because I get motion sickness as a passenger

Thanks all I went out for a drive today it was fine so going to just get back to normal, I called GP again today to be told again they can’t see me for mum Check till December and I’m not putting life on hold for that ! So frustrating xx
