How long before the c-section should you stop eating?

I wonder if it’s 12 hours or more maybe?

The hospital should tell you at your pre op appointment

You’ll get told in your pre-op appointment. I had to stop at 12am.

The hospital will tell you. I had to be at the hospital for 7.30 and had to stop eating at 2am but could keep drinking water until we went to theatre

I was told last meal at home at 5pm last drink with milk at 10pm only water after this point guess depend when u are scheduled

I had to stop from 12pm I was lucky I was the first one down x

I was told midnight, was also told that I could drink water up until c section I have to be at the hospital at 7 am

Yup they should tell you at pre-op depending on what your time is. They will also give your anti sickness and anti acid medication and tell you which times to take it.

@Kya that’s dependant on trust, I wasn’t given anything at my pre op.

You would normally be told beforehand. I had GD so I was brought in at 7:30 and first done and I had to start fasting from 10 the night before x

The hospital should advise this to you, I stopped eating at 10pm but was allowed to have a slice of toast at 7am

12am, I thought I was gonna faint though at 4pm when I still hadn’t gone in after loads of emergencies being before me, and then 5 mins later they called me in x

12am - but similar to Jess, I didn’t end up having my c section until 11pm the following evening due to lots of emergencies so wasn’t the easiest experience..they eventually gave me a glucose drink at 7pm when I told them I was starting to feel faint! Not ideal but my previous baby was an emergency c section & so emergencies do have to take priority at times!

i was instructed to no longer eat or drink after midnight and my c-section was at 8 am

is it scheduled if so the hospital usually tells u mine told me to stop eating by 10pm i had to be there by 5am and was going to have her at 7am

@Aja same!

I could eat until midnight and drink water until 6am had to be at the hospital for 7am x

The normal standard for surgery is 6 hours but that can vary. When i had my emergency c section they asked when I last ate and I said I'd had 1 biscuits 3 hours ago with a cup of tea and they said that's fine and went and scrubbed up
