First c-section

So we’re being booked in for a c-section in 7 weeks time at 37 weeks as long as I don’t go into labour beforehand (they think I will because it’s a complicated pregnancy and I have excess fluid but I’m not planning to 😅) but I’ve never even looked into them before now so can I hear some c-section stories and get some tips for recovery? ☺️

I also had an excessive amount of amniotic fluid but ended up with an emergency C-section. I was really sad that I had to be put under & didn’t get to hold her until nearly 2 hours after birth, but I was walking around the very next morning. I only took Ibuprofen the first couple days but got Oxys as well. Take the meds!! It is completely fine to take them. You don’t have to tough it out. It’ll be a little tough to get out of bed but it should be a decent recovery. Keep an eye on moisture! Pat the area dry a couple times throughout the day. Give your muscles time to heal.

Rest as much as you can, I walked too much too soon and ended with an haemorrage and in hospital for 3 more days after 2 weeks. It is a though intervention so take your recovery seriously. I wish you the best C-section ever =)

My best advice would be to do the absolute bare minimum for the first couple of days. I felt fine and started doing too much too soon and deffo paid for it by day 3. Get disposable underwear to wear at night because you don’t want to leak and have to get up in the middle of the night. Buy massive pants that go nearly up to your boobs🤣 you don’t want anything that will sit on your scar. After the first week it will be hard but try and be as active as you can as you will heal much quicker good luck 🫶🏻
