Bath after episiotomy and third degree tear.

I had my baby girl on the 15th of September and had a third degree tear and stitches. How long did people wait before having a bath? I’ve been showering but yet to have a bath, I desperately want a self care evening and to soak in the bath but not sure if it’s too soon? Any advise is appreciated ♥️

I asked my health visitor as I had my little girl on the 28th and she said I could have a bath no hotter than 37 degrees for only 15 minutes as apparently longer can start dissolving the stitches in the water

I think I had a bath maybe 2 weeks after having my baby. I was silly and was having a bath every night as heard Epsom salt baths were good for the healing. 6 weeks pp now and my episiotomy is infected 😣 I recommend sticking to maybe one once a week lol

It sounds like everyone has heard different advice, I was told to bath in salt water every night as it prevents infections so I have been but my episiotomy also got infected one week pp, I'm now 4 weeks pp and only just beginning to heal

My little boy has the same birthday as your LO. I had 2x 2nd degree and had a bath after 10days with Epsom salts and had one a couple of times a week. It was recommended by my midwife x

I was told once you can see visible healing and the stitches are ready to dissolve themselves so the water isn’t interfering with that part, I waited until I saw my stitches coming out themselves on wiping, apparently it can weaken the tear as can cause the wound to become soggy so I stuck to showers and only have a bath if I really want one probs once a week, I’ve had 2 baths and I’m nearly 4 weeks PP I had my first just after 2 weeks x

I was told it’s okay to do sitz baths and in fact recommended with epsom salts as it will loosen the muscles down there which will help with recovery. I have second degree tear so maybe it’s different. At 2 weeks pp the stitches are almost all dissolved (just 2 left)

I bathed from about day 4 and did so every other day for about 15/20 minutes a tip is get some Badedas and put that in. It's a bath gel and it has horse chestnut in. Healed me up so quick! X
