Bleeding after sweep
39 weeks and just had a stretch and sweep. She said i was about 2cm dilated almost fully effaced but my cervix was very high up. It’s been 3 hours and I’m getting some bleeding, like a light period, i don’t see any discharge just blood. Im getting period like pains on and off like you would at the start of an induction. Is this normal? Should i be worried about the blood. Baby is moving fine.

Is the blood bright red or is it pinky? I would call triage and get some advice When my labour started I started getting period pains initially but mine was like a pinky/ brown discharge with bits of red sometimes x
Period like pains are common after a sweep. They usually settle after a few hours, mine settled after about 6-7. Spotting is common after a sweep but if you’re concerned about it’s heaviness or colour then call triage or send a picture to your midwife
I had a sweep today, cervix was soft and 1cm dilated. My midwife said it’s common to spot/bleed afterward. If it’s heavy, filling a pad then to call and check in or if you start to feel unwell. Cramping is normal as it’s your body getting ready x
