Refused induction after pprom?

I don’t know if this is controversial but has anyone refused an induction/augmentation at 37 weeks after Pprom? After doing a fair bit of research I feel that if there is enough fluid and no signs of infection I might wait a week and hope she arrives naturally as opposed to starting synthetic oxytocin when labour hasn’t started. I obviously don’t want to risk the health of my baby so if there were any signs anything was wrong I would do it.

I can totally appreciate this ! There's so much intervention with PPROM as it is, if infection markers are OK and water level is fine I can understand wanting to let nature decide when baby arrives. Its a difficult decision and balance but ultimately you know your body and baby best xx

I delayed it till 38.5 weeks because everything was coming back normal. I went into labour 8 hours after the pessary and it was very smooth. I didn’t need syntocin

When I had pprom I had no sign of infection and unfortunately we both had an infection

I’ve got my induction booked next Thursday at 37 weeks, baby is really low down and I’m loosing my mucus plug, I’m hoping my cervix will be open by then and if it is to refuse pessary and go straight to hormone drip, is this a good idea?

@Jestina my baby boy arrived at 35 weeks after my waters went at 34 weeks. I was in early labour anyway and was induced because baby was getting distressed (elevated heart rate). I didn't have a choice really re the method of induction and was put straight onto the hormone drip, but what I will say is it made things go too fast, caused extra complications and a very traumatic birth. Partially, that was due to my l&d midwives negligence (she didn't believe I felt I had to push because 'first time mums never go that fast' and didn't stop the drip in time), but it would definitely put me off going straight to hormone induction personally if I had a choice! Wishing you all the absolute best for a safe and healthy birth, you'll make the right decision for you and your baby 🥰

@Nikita thanks for all the info, did you have a natural birth in the end? it’s hard to know what to do when it’s your first and don’t know how your body is going to respond

@Jestina yes I did, but it was an emergency big red button situation and very nearly an emergency c section unfortunately
