Considering another one

Hey everyone, I had my c-section 5months ago, and me and my partner have been talking about having another one. I was wondering how long after did people start trying or got pregnant after there c-section?

it's ideal to wait 12-18 months after a c-section because the place in your uterus that was cut open is still healing and forming scar tissue. if you fall pregnant too soon then you are at a higher risk for things like placenta previa and uterine rupture

I’m pregnant with my second and started trying 4 months pp because we didn’t know how long would take. I fell pregnant when my baby was 11 months old. And baby number 2 is due Feb. So 18 month gap x

I was told not to start trying till 12 months pp after my section as it can cause damage to the scar tissue

I fell pregnant when my daughter was 10 months old. We ended up losing that baby and unexpectedly fell pregnant again when she was 13 months old. This for me has been the perfect timing despite it not being in our plans. My daughter is now 21 months old and we welcome our second daughter on Monday (both by c section). I’ve had no issues with my scar either this pregnancy apart from the occasional feeling of it pulling but hardly noticeable xx

My mum fell pregnant 6months after having me and she had a c-section and everything was fine so was just seeing if anyone else has had similar situation or what would be best as I was told a year, but I would like mine quite close together

My son is 8 months and I’m one month pregnant I had a c section

I waited 2 years before getting pregnant with this baby. My doctors said they recommend 18+ months to make sure your body is properly healed

Shouldn’t start trying until 12 months PP a uterine rupture could kill you and result in a hysterectomy and an inability to have children ever again. Hope I don’t come off as harsh but I don’t want you to listen to the “I did it and I was fine” it’s only a few more months. So worth the wait for your health!! 🥰

Doctors recommend at least 12 months but at the end of the day it's up to you and your partner. Do know the risks though of being pregnant early post partum via c section. But everyone has different outcomes. It's not a guarantee that you will have complications but it's a higher risks. If you feel comfortable trying again now, then do it but please look into everything before trying. Everyone's experience is different

Thankyou everyone for your advice I really appreciate it x

They originally told me 18 months but this time they said 2 years. If you don’t have 2 year between, they will do a planned C-section. So that may impact your timeline if you want to try for a vbac. I would reach out to your OB and ask what they recommend based on your C-section and medical history.

My obgyn suggested I wait 18 months before trying for another one. And my husband has been the one mostly adhering to that advice. 😂

If I have another one I am waiting 2 years before even trying as they said 2 years - just personally would prefer this to ensure I give my body the best chance for recovery and less complications (obvs can’t always be the way) but what’s in my control xx

Wait 12-18 mos. I had a c-section April 2023, got pg 3 mos 3wks PP. I had another c-section May 2024. That was my 4th and last. I survived it, but man was it hard on my body.

6months post section / 6 weeks pregnant - we also thought we’d start trying early as we thought i’d take longer to conceive as first one took over a year of trying and my age is now over “geriatric” but “surprise” this time around i got pregnant the first time trying very strange and def not ideal but we are over the moon with having a close gap and fingers crossed everything “sticks” and goes well with the pregnancy

Got pregnant when baby boy was 9 / 10 months

My first daughter was born May 23 via an emergency C and I got pregnant again Jan 24 and my second daughter was born Sept 24 via elective C. My body has healed really well. I think we will try for one more but wait a year x

I fell pregnant 8 months postpartum. I’m due tomorrow and my son is almost 17 months. Have had no complications so far and I’m a VBAC candidate 🤞 that being said, 2 years between births really is ideal

I was going to wait a year but got pregnant at 9 months pp, I wouldn’t have done it any earlier
