Coventry Hospital Maternity Experiences

Hi! I’m currently under Good Hope Hospital, but due to cardiac issues my Cardiologist has recommended giving birth at Coventry where they are based. Yesterday was my first time at Coventry Hospital and I found it so overwhelming! Can you let me know your experiences giving birth at Coventry? I’ve got a few weeks to make a decision but I’m not very local to the hospital and I know nothing about it 😂 thank you for any help in advance! ☺️ x

I haven't given birth yet (being induced tomorrow) but the care so far has been really good there in terms of scans and appointments. Staff are really nice and I haven't had any bad experiences so I'm hoping all goes well for me this weekend. I will update after!

I gave birth last year and from start to finish cannot fault my care. I absolutely loved my birthing experience and all the staff were amazing xx

Hey hun. I was born in Coventry hospital and I also had my little one delivered there too. The cardiac team is amazing they are really well informed and take time with their patience, my daughter had cardiac issues also. She had a PDA at birth. Unfortunately I wish I could say the same about the maternity ward, I found it very busy and too many patience not enough beds, they rush you to get discharged regardless of your state and baby. The showers were filthy and I had a horrid time on ward. I self discharged whilst my baby was on the other ward but that’s due to being so local and I can pop home and shower whilst my hubby stayed at the hospital. Pros and cons though. My sister had a natural birth and other sister had a water birth, who were out of hospital within 2 days so there experience was much more positive. I think you have to weigh out the priorities and what birthing plan you have. Hope this helps a little.

I gave birth there 4 months ago and I found the staff throughout labour were brilliant I started in the birth centre then had to move to the labour ward and the staff were amazing. Can’t say the same about the aftercare though. We had to stay in a night and the staff were horrible. Wouldn’t help me with feeding, basically shouted at me and my husband when we asked any question and then the day we were supposed to be discharged they took hours. We ended up self discharging and again had a horrible experience at one point one of the nurses tried taking the baby off my husband saying we can’t leave with her. I will not be going back there if I have anymore kids

Thank you all! It’s hard when you’re being advised to give birth in a hospital/area you know nothing about 😩
