Inductions

Anyone had an induction before? This is my first baby and I have my induction next week at 37 weeks due to him being small. I'm still in shock as I wasn't expecting an induction. What were your experiences like?

Following 💚 second baby but first induction. I'm booked in for 26th oct @ 38w+3

I was induced with my first due to him being small at 38+2, they wanted to do it at 37 weeks but I declined. I had the pessary put in at around 12 in the afternoon and my waters broke on their own at 10.30pm that night. Mine ultimately ended in an emergency csection which I just knew would happen, this was because once my contractions started the babies heart rate was dipping with every contraction and they basically said he was too small to cope with full on labour as this was just the start! So it was the safest decision because he was tiny bless him ☺️

@Georgia thanks a lot for this! I was so anxious when they said they'll be inducing me at 37 weeks and honestly I'm worried about the negatives of that. What centile was your baby at if you don't mind me asking? Mine is only 2nd centile so I feel obliged to listen to them to be on the safe side

Definitely below 3rd, I’m pretty sure he was barely on the chart! I did have low PAPP-A though which can cause baby to be small so don’t let my experience scare you!

@Georgia ahh ok thanks for letting me know. I'm super short, only 5 foot and my husband is around 5 foot 9 so I'm thinking it's probably genetics as he has steady growth. This is my first baby so I don't know what the best thing is to do

I would say just do some research into inductions so you can make informed choices, good luck 🤞🏻

I had an induction due to small baby last time but I was 40 weeks, it was really slow and honestly a lot of sitting around so make sure you have lots to watch on your phone or something to read to pass the time, also lots of snacks that you like. I was absolutely fine until the hormone drip part when the pain ramped up, but it wasn't a bad experience at all. But if you feel unsure about it, definitely do some research and ask further questions, I wouldn't accept a small baby as a reason this time around, but it's a very personal decision.

I was induced at 40 weeks with first baby. I went in Saturday morning at about 8.30. Baby delivered 2.30 the Monday morning so it can be quite a lengthly process. They did say at one point i wasnt progressing as they wanted and were going to take me for a C section but i had a little sleep and it did wonders for dilation. Id say my induction was really positive and i'd be very willing to have another. Good luck with it all x
