Labour waiting game

So I’m having contractions that are 5 minutes apart and have definitely got more intense. But the hospital don’t want me to go in just yet. My partner and babies are all asleep. I can’t sleep because of the contractions…..what are you supposed to do in this time? It’s half 1 in the morning, not sure I can run the hoover round 😂😂

So exciting! You’re going to meet your baby soon 🥰 try get some sleep and rest as much as you can, you’re going to need your energy soon!

My contractions started last Thursday night around midnight and the first hour I just lay there next to my partner sleeping tracking them but then I managed to get about 45 minutes sleep before they got a little spicier 😅 then between 2 and 4am they were coming stronger but I was drifting in and out of sleep the whole time x

if theyre feeling really intense i'd go in anyway! my contractions were about every 5 mins too and i was recommended to stay home and have paracetamol but was already nearly at hospital. i was 6cm dilated when i arrived and baby was born in less than 2 hours! my midwife told me intensity is more important than frequency for second time/subsequent labours. good luck!! xx

As far as I know you’re welcome to go to the hospital whenever you feel like you need to. You don’t have to wait until a certain point in the labour process.

So I must’ve fallen asleep around 2.30/3 ish and only just woken up now. Not impressed with this baby! Make your mind up little man 😂😂

I had the exact same last night, contractions were on and off for around 6 hours and toward the middle of the night they were a minute long and 5 minutes apart but started to ease off, I fell asleep and have woken up with no more labour signs 🥺

How far along are y’all?

Mine started at 2:30am and I couldn’t sleep either. I had a shower, put music on and folded laundry. I did a few other things in my spiritual practice and then continued cleaning… the bathrooms and I relaxed my hospital bag. I had a special playlist for labor of all my fave songs. Try and enjoy this time, it’s so special!

@Hannah 38+4

@Phoebe im 38+3 too but it’s my 3rd baby (other two were induced so this is very new to me). I’m exactly the same. Apart from just being really sore and exhausted it’s like last night never happened 😡 I’m a planner so this waiting around is not my idea of fun 😂

@Ellen I get you but this is my 3rd baby. I have a 2yo and a 1yo. Sleep is precious 😂😂 I’m a planner so this doesn’t feel like a special time for me at all. Apart from anything, sorting childcare at 2am for false alarms is driving me insane 😂

@Phoebe this happened to me last week, 11pm - 5am contractions, fell asleep 6am - 8am and they’d gone, I was gutted! I went for an hour walk and did some kerb walking that morning and by lunchtime they were back thick and fast and baby was born that night! 💙 xx

Damn! I’ve been getting contraction like feelings overnight as well, that have woken me but I’ve managed to get back to sleep and then by morning they’ve disappeared. But I’m 40+1 today (second baby), my first came at 39+1 so I really expected to have baby already.
