Solo parenting & showering

I will be solo parenting soon as my partner works away from home and is going back to work next week. He will be away a few weeks at a time - I’ve been so lucky and have had him home for 6 weeks as I had an emergancy c-section. Maybe a silly question but how am I meant to shower whilst I’m the only one looking after my baby? I don’t have room for her to sit in something safely in the bathroom as the room is too small. Should I take a bath with her? Anyone have anything they can suggest?I can sometimes call family for help but I want to be able to do it myself incase I can’t get the help.

I used to put my son in his car seat so I could quickly shower as I also had a small bathroom. Would a car seat fit?

I used to put the Moses basket in the bathroom doorway so I could see him

When I'm home alone, I wait until they are asleep and then I shower. I take the baby monitor in the bathroom with me so I can see and hear them if they wake up.

when i want to shower i normally feed her and put her to sleep then bring the monitor with me so i can watch and hear her

@Becca not safely 😢 my bathroom is tiny

I’ve had this today for the first time as my partner has gone away with work. I put her in her Moses basket and put it in the doorway so I could still see her and just had a quick shower!

I have a shower whilst my grandson is having his nap. Even if he wakes up while I’m in the shower he’s safe in his cot

I put our baby in the bathroom doorway in a bouncer chair. Think he quite likes the noise of the shower so he stays entertained! Then to buy more time, I talk him through what I’m using the moisturise etc when I get out to keep the entertainment going as long as possible before he fusses

I used to pop him on a play mat in his cot and take the monitor with me and shower as quickly as humanly possible. He was a contact napper so I couldn’t get away with it when he slept I was also an emergency section and my other half had to go back after a week and has regularly had to stay away since. You’ll find what works best for you, you may have to try a few suggestions to see what suits you best but you’ll get your own way of sorting things quick enough

Dockatot in the doorway of the bathroom is what I did with my first.

@Rhiannon could you leave the door open to make more space? And have baby in the doorway? Assuming your house would be empty!

I’m in the same situation, my husband works away 2 months at a time and I’ll be going solo from Monday. With my first born I would just put him in his snuz pod with songs that I played every single time and you just get very good at showering fast! This time I will put my daughter in the snuz pod too x

Bassinet/cot - they’re safe in there. When they’re asleep or somewhat settled. You could also get an upright baby rocker chair thing and pop them in it in the bathroom, I find they like the change of scenery and like being propped up long enough to at least have a decent shower!
