C Section Injections

Probably a question for the midwife. I had to take them for extra 10 days after I got home but its really the least of your concern after all you will have been through. I was discharged with codeine for the same time period too so if you're worried about it hurting you can do it after your Painkillers have kicked in certainly I didn't have pain from doing them it was more thr bruising afterwards. Try to find a fatty part of your thigh and a different bit each day and pinch the skin so you get as much fat as possible and try to relax your body first. You can also ask your partner to do it mine was a bit clueless and probably wasn't even aware I had them. But if its worrying you ask him to step up and do it! Get arnica cream as well really helps with bruising

Depends on your bmi, risk factor and medical history. I didn’t score high enough for them, in fact I didn’t even lose 300ml of blood in theatre. I was very low risk and not an emergency section. I was sent home with pain killers and stockings for a week or so. Told to stay active.

I had blood thinners injections after my c section I think most big operation then make you take these to prevent clots!

I didn’t take them, you can decline they gave me compression socks and said I needed to stay hydrated and move around. I’m a week post section and have had no problems x

I had a Csection in April and didn’t have to have them, wasn’t even told about them so I think it depends on how much blood you lose and how your pregnancy has been? I was just given pain killers, wasn’t even told to keep wearing the stockings x

I believe if you have a planned c section you don’t need them because get given tablets leading up to it. But there have been cases where it’s still needed but I don’t have experience of that. But I was told because mine was an emergency I needed the injections.

They give them to you to stop blood clots

@Steph they still give them to you Iv had a planned c-section it’s to stop your blood from clotting

@Lou oh really?! I was told you have tablets beforehand instead of the injections when I was in hospital! Danggg haha.

@Steph they give you a tablet before hand yes that’s to help with your blood to sort of thicken it also depending on how much blood you lose and if complications they give you blood thinners to prevent blood clotting

@Lou yeah maybe all I know is the professionals said to me that they give blood thinning tablets beforehand! I’m sure I’ll find out with my next baby haha!
