Advice

I went into triage yesterday for reduced fetal movement, my first episode. As soon as I was put on the monitor baby started moving and met criteria. They admitted me for monitoring since I’m a high risk pregnancy and I’ve had three CTG monitors - 2 have passed and 1 has not, this was due to baby being asleep at the beginning. They’re very insistent on sending me for a c-section. I had my heart set on a VBAC. Since the CTG’s came back fine, should I and can I decline c section? I’m really not confident at all it’s what I want. What would you do in my position…

Nobody can advise re your baby Xx If I was in your shoes though having this information (set on VBAC, having high risk only bec I had previous c section, doing CTG and all passed, when baby was asleep of course their heart rate would be slower) then I would discuss wanting a VBAC with my provider and asks for their concerns about it, ask if my baby is at any risks, or if I am. And ask for long term risks and cons of having a c section vs benefits of VBAC ❤️

@Gabi thank you! ☺️ Just wanted to see what people may do in my place… just had a scan and baby looks great, 7lbs with great fluid, good cord blood flow and placenta all fine. Feeling very reassured and her movements are back to normal so will push to be discharged and let her hopefully come on her own 🤞✨

Best of luck! 🫶🏽🫶🏽🌸

What exactly is their reasoning for a c-section? I was in hospital four or five times for reduced movement and c-section was never mentioned at all! Unless there’s a logical reason or a health benefit then I’d say decline for sure x

@Molly just that they can’t be sure she is coping well due to the reduced movements 🙄 despite her movements picking up, her CTG being perfect and scan coming back exactly as should be. Have declined and booked in for sweeps instead

How many times have you had reduced movement? I think they’re being overly cautious but unfortunately it promotes fear in us because they’re medical professionals! You know your baby and it sounds like you’re doing the right thing xx

@Molly last night was the first episode in my whole pregnancy!

Wow! Then please ignore them 🙈 that’s shocking
