Keloid scarring

This could be a niche question but has anyone experienced keloid scarring and proceeded to have a 2nd c-section? If so, did they cut the same incision or make a new one? Also, what’s the scarring like 2nd time round?

I am due to have my second c section in 7 days. I asked my consultant the same question as I too have a keloid scar. I got told for me they will cut the keloid away and create a new scar where the old one was. I can’t say how healing is as I am yet to experience this but got told the scar can either heal flat or develop keloid scaring again. I think it is different for everybody. I’m really hoping for mine to heal flat this time as my scar currently is half flat & half keloid. If it doesn’t heal flat though i’m okay with it, I’m used to keloid by now 🤣 Hope this helps 🫶🏻🤍

Hi! I have had two c sections. I had keloid scarring with my first, that wasn’t great. The second has been so much better. I had a different surgeon and we discussed the keloid scarring from the first time - he was super knowledgeable and said he would use a special surgical glue instead of stitches, as that often improves the end result for people prone to keloid scarring (which I am, given I have dark skin). Like the previous poster said, they actually cut away the first scar and create a new one. Net result (with the glue) is my second scar is vastly improved from my first! It’s a thin line rather than a keloid. I hope this helps, and good luck to you all!

They remove the keloid to reseal neater. Makes it easier for them in the further if you have more and minimises internal scar issues too.

Following. I haven’t had my second c section yet due soon but my doctor discussed with me that they will cut the keloid out and go through the same scar. I hope 🤞🏾 I don’t keloid again we will see.

Interesting answers, thanks everyone! My keloid scar has massively reduced (I had my c-section in 2021). I’m not actually pregnant atm either lol I was just curious as I would probably opt to have a second section
