What would you do in my situation??

I’m 37 weeks today with my first and i have been having a pretty rough pregnancy (no complications so far thankfully) but every trimester has been super hard on me. Starting around 25 weeks i started having really bad pelvic pain which was later diagnosed as (SPD) pubic symphysis dysfunction. Around 32 weeks I started having prodromal labor, with really painful contractions. Although being as proactive as possible with the SPD (doing pelvic floor pt, getting massages, chiropractor, using lidocaine patch in the area, Tylenol, and pretty much everything under the book) the pain has gotten so bad that I am pretty much bed ridden, some days are so bad that my husband has to help me walk to the bathroom and I cannot get any sleep at night because shifting in bed makes the pain unbearable. Long story short I have been absolutely miserable for the past 6 weeks. Due to all of this, i have been scheduled for an induction on 10/30 at 39w 2days and I have also been offered a membrane sweep this upcoming Friday, where I would be 37w4d to try and kick labor without the need for an induction. Originally, prior to going through all of this, I wanted to have the least interventions possible (no cervix checks at prenatal appointments, no membrane sweep, no induction) and wait for baby to come on his own. However with all mentioned above, I am desperate about having baby asap and all of the things that are recommended to “naturally induce labor” like walking, exercise ball, stretching, etc I am not able to do at all due to my condition. I guess what I am asking is, if you were in my shoes, would you get the membrane sweep at this upcoming appointment on Friday? Or just wait until induction date ? Im super scared of the membrane sweep being super painful as well as not working but the ob said that based on all the pain i have been through it shouldn’t feel as bad for me. If you made it this far, thank you so much for reading, any input is appreciated as I feel cornered with this decision!

Hey mama, sorry to hear you’re in so much pain! Pregnancy definitely takes a toll at times. Just wanted to share that I had a sweep with both my babies, first I was 39+6, we were induced at 40wks exactly. Second: I was going to be induced again on the Friday. My last ob app was the Tuesday at 38+6, I had a cervical check and doc said I was already 4cm and asked if I wanted the sweep. I accepted and gave birth to him the same day. For me the sweeps were no more painful than a Pap smear (if you’ve ever had one?) Whether it’s successful or not depends on how favourable your cervix is. If you’re not dilated at all then a sweep can’t be done. It’s completely up to you, it may work and it may not. Is this your first baby?

When I was 39 weeks with my first I got offered a sweep and I took it but she tried the best she could but struggled as I wasn't even remotely dilated but it didn't hurt. Decision is yours entirely but it depends on how you feel. It may work it may not work.

I'm in a lot of pain too. If I were you, I'd do the sweep. I had 2 sweeps with my first. The first at 39+2 and the second at 40+2. I went into labor at 40+6, but I really think the sweep helped. Tip: put your hands under your butt when they do it. For some reason this angle helped them do a successful sweep. My first I didn't even have blood or anything, but with my second I did.
