Induction

So I’m getting induced on Wednesday and I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or advice for me especially being a ftm. Also I know it can take quite a long time, I am 3 cm dilated and 90% effaced already tho so I was wondering if anyone was similar and about how long it took for you?

Following I’m getting induced Friday good luck mama!!

Everybody's body is different so they could tell you their experience. But it won't even be close to yours. It could be 5-12 hours or even 36 to 40 in all reality. Inductions aren’t short a sweet. They are forcing your body to go into labor.

How far along are you? is there a reason you're choosing to be induced, especially as a ftm? Being dilated 3cm and that effaced, sounds like your body is doing everything it needs to be doing to get ready for baby naturally?

@Zoe gestational hypertension

@Zoe and I’ll be 39 weeks on Tuesday, I have a short cervix and actually have been 2 cm dilated since 30 weeks and was 90% effaced then as well so was on pelvic rest until 37 weeks

@Taylor Rose ah, i see! well best of luck to you. i don't have any good advice for you, but hopefully feel comforted by the fact that the hospital is fully equipped for any and all your needs and whatever may come of it, bc every ones birth and induction experiences are truly different! 9 years ago, I went in to get induced for my first baby and luckily my water broke at the hospital before they induced lol, so maybe you will have the same luck!

I just had a medically necessary induction 3 weeks ago. My advice is to remember that you are in control of this process. They cannot do anything without your consent. If you feel scared/unsure about next steps or possible outcomes ask questions! Ask why they're making the decisions they're making. Ask what the possible outcomes or side effects are so YOU can decide if you want to do that or not. And if anyone has a problem with that fire them! You can kick anyone out of that room that you want to if they're making you uncomfortable, that INCLUDES medical staff. Otherwise, try to sleep when you can. The whole process is pretty exhausting 😴 I hope you have such a good experience and feel safe and heard the whole time. ❤️

@Jules thank you!<3

I was 2 cm dilated and 60% effaced when I went in for my induction at 37 weeks. I was in labor for 12 hours before we ended up doing an emergency c-section due to my baby having complications. I was almost fully dilated and probably about ready to push pretty soon if it didn't up being an emergency.
