How long are y’all waiting to take baby to public places?

My husband and I are modeling after my parents photos (I was in daycare by three months of age and also at Dandy bear and things like that), but I really don’t know and online it just says doctors recommend waiting “ a few months.” My little one is two months old now and idk if I can take him to target or small stores and things like that :/ Anyways, I’ve been waiting til the three month mark, but I wanted to know if I’m the only one waiting and if others began taking baby’s out at 2 months?

They say to wait two months because that's when the vaccinations are, and they'll be protected, however, I chose not to vaccinate but waited 40 days as a cultural tradition to be safe from my LO contracting any sickness xx

I planned on waiting till 3-4 months to take my baby out before giving birth. But honestly, I took her to target the same day I left the hospital. I always had her in a wrap carrier on my chest with her face covered though, rarely a stroller. My baby and I went out a lot from birth to 4 months, I couldn’t be stuck in the house and she loves the car! 😂 And she’s never been sick. She’s breastfed and mostly just slept when we were outside. If you’re comfortable I would totally try taking your baby out now, he might really enjoy it.

I also waited 40 days per cultureral and religious reasons. LO got vaccinated at 2 months but we didn't wait for that. I just wore him and didn't let anyone really touch him anyway.

We took baby our on day 3 for a walk, and then day 5 to a restaurant. In the UK those sorts of rules don't exist anf our babies are fine x

We took him to the Royal state show when he was 6w- before that was just walks w the dog around the block to get some fresh air. Public- 6w. Hubby babywore that day so baby was 70% babywore and 30% in his pram bassinet (we didn’t use a system so no car seat on the pram) Just wear baby close and it’ll be fine. After hub went back to work at 6w I took him out to baby and mothers groups for my own sanity. He mainly slept in the pram besides being BF. He slept through all the sessions in the first couple weeks I took him out.

I went to target by 2 weeks. We baby wore, so she was only on me and we took her out so much after that. She stays up to date on vaccines but she’s 1 years old now and she loves going out!

I waited until 2 months. He’s 3 mo now and I’ve still only been out a couple times. I’m just not super comfortable being out by myself with him yet.

I’m in the uk but took my son to a shopping centre the day after he was born x

I didn’t wait, I took our girl out every day from date of discharge. Walks down the river every day, Costco shops, to see friends, pub lunches. By 7 weeks we were on a plane to Australia! I had a Caesarian and being mobile was recommended so I never stayed home unless it was raining.

I’m in the uk and we don’t put a timescale on this. We take them out whenever we have to or want to🤍 I took my second baby out to an aquarium at 17 days old on my own with my 4 year old. I’d have gone crazy staying in with two kids every day😅 I had to do the nursery run too every morning and midday on foot and lunch out sometimes from newborn onwards x

I took my baby out a few days after birth.. no need to wait unless it’s cultural imo.

I took my baby places with me about two weeks after she was born. She was asleep basically the whole time and I just kept her from being too close to people to avoid getting sick

I took my baby out shopping at the Baby Bunting store when she was 4 days old. Then we were out shopping in shopping centres from 6 days old. I think I would have lost my mind if I waited until 2 months to take her anywhere, and I think it’s good for them to get used to being in different environments. My Bub is almost 4 months old and I can’t remember the last time we spent a full day at home because I get bored being in my own four walls 😂

I took my baby out on the 3rd day for a walk by the lake and she has been out almost every other day since I wanted to protect my baby so much bu keeping her indoor away from germs but I learned that this is too much of perfection and sometimes babies can get sick when they live in a super sterilized environment, because they don’t build the immunity they need to face the world

In daycare at 3months? As in already attending? 😮

Mine was out and about at 3 days old.

I started taking my baby out in public immediately, she was around a lot of people within the first few days of life. We went in a restaurant like two days after she was born. I understand the fears but at the same time babies are a lot more sturdy than we tend to give them credit for and breastmilk even for a short time helps a lot with their immune systems. I'm a germophobe. I was just careful not to let her get breathed on by strangers or be close with sick people until she was a couple months old. As they get older a certain level of exposure to germs is very healthy for them to develop good immune systems.

Wow!! This is incredible! @Natalia @Stacey @Laynee @Sarah @Lisa @Paola @Ebony Rose @Victoria @Rama @Lisa @Alexis Did your baby’s ever get sick and did you ever suspect it was due to an outing? If so, how did you handle the mom guilt??

@Kristy only been sick once in her life as a toddler. Never got ill as a baby xx

@Kristy as a baby, as a toddler and now as a child she has very very rarely been ill. Starting nursery never gave her any illnesses and neither has starting school. I’ve never been very bothered about germs, hence her great immune system.

@Kristy she didn't get sick until she was eight months old and everyone in the house got Covid. It's very possible it was from going somewhere but it also could have been brought home from someone when baby girl hadn't gone with them. I felt bad she was sick and seeing her go through it was rough but children get sick, she was fine. Honestly I was sicker than she was. When she was younger probably around five months my mother and I got quite sick and my baby was fine she didn't get sick at all while in the house with us sick.

She's only had two colds and they were mild and not all that long ago. Super healthy baby thank God ❤️She went out around 3-4 weeks and that's only because I could walk a bit better lol I was struggling big time.

My second baby hasn’t had a cold yet and she is nearly five months. My first baby had her first cold at 18 months

Thank you all so much for your responses! It’s really help take off some of the pressure I felt of having to wait so long to go out!

@Kristy go enjoy a trip round to target and treat yourself xx

@Sarah you read my mind 😅😂😂

I brought my baby to target in the cloth baby wrap at 3 weeks lol I was desperate to get out of the house! Made sure to wash my hands once I got home etc
