Hospital discharge

I’ve been doing some reflecting this evening, I had an assisted delivery with forceps and baby was totally healthy but I was discharged within 24 hours. What was everyone else’s experience if you had a straightforward delivery and no issues? How quickly did you get home?

I was discharged 16 hours after giving birth. I stayed overnight as couldn’t walk due to epidural.

My second baby was born around 6 am and we were home before 5pm the same day, it was great. This time, baby was born just before 4am and for a while we were able to chill in the delivery suite in peace and quiet, after a few hours they said they would try and get the discharge done quickly before they did a handover so we wouldn't have to go up to the ward - but then there was a shift change and certain things hadn't been done in time so we ended up on the ward around 10am and were there for ages, it was horrendous and I was just absolutely dying to get out and be home. We eventually got back around 7pm. X

My girl came super quick, didn’t even make it to the hospital. Got to the hospital afterwards around 5.15am though and they finally let us home around 6pm. I’d have happily gone home a couple of hours later but they took their sweet ass time doing all her checks

12 hours x

Gave birth at 7am, home by 2pm the same day. Second baby though, water birth no assistance. My first I gave birth around 6pm and was home the following morning around 11 I think. That was an assisted delivery, episiotomy and suction cup.

First baby, born at 1:30am and discharged by 8:30am…

This was my second and they asked if I wanted to go home or stay I said I would rather go home so was at home 4 hours after he was born. (My first I did stay the night but I had some complications during that birth)

I was able to be discharged within 6hrs but that would have been 3am so stayed until morning. Water birth, no concerns, only 2nd degree tear.

She was born at 1:25am and we were home about 5pm the same day! Only because I asked mind, they were going to keep us in but there was no reason to!

Both my children were episiotomy and failed kiwi cup deliveries but we were home both times within 24 hours

First pregnancy I had a ventouse, major blood loss and a 3B tear. I went home after 4 days and then my daughter wasn’t gaining weight so I went back in for another 24 hours. Second baby, vaginal delivery with no assistance. Second degree tear. I was home within 17 hours post birth.

@Jaimmie I’ve had a 3B tear this time and it makes me feel better to know this time you had a better (if that’s the right word 😂) time the second time x

Both of my babies were born early in the morning - 1:22am for my first and 1:28am for my second. First time I was home by 10:30am, second time by 10am. Both vaginal deliveries, no pain relief due to fast delivery, some stitches for both. Both precipitous labours of under 3 hours each!

first baby went in at 2am at 10cm by the time they checked and had baby at 3am, was stitched up and asked if i wanted to have a shower there or go home and shower, i picked the latter and was home by 7am
