Epidural..

I’m getting a c-section and am absolutely terrified of needles😂.. people keep telling me that it’s scary and all these horrible stories of things going wrong with an epidural? I know it’s risky anyway as it’s to do with your spine! Please any advice or positive stories please!!!!🤍

I'm also absolutely petrified of needles and was adamant I didn't want an epidural and laboured without one for 10 hours just to o dilate ONE cm 😂 in the end up it was getting too painful and I was way too tired to go on without one and get her here safely and it was honestly FINE! that was with the anaesthetist having to run to an emergency so another one coming to finish it etc so not a straightforward one. They'll numb your back first with a normal injection so you don't feel anything and waiting for your legs to feel normal sfter was the strangest part for me! honestly if I knew that's all it would be I'd of asked for one the second I got to the hospital because it made the world of difference and really wasn't that bad at all I had made it way worse over thinking it for 9 months 😂 Helps that you don't see any of the needles, doing it behind you, once they numbed my back I couldnt tell when anything was happening or when they were putting the epidural needle it was just done! You will be fine love 💖

Thank you so much this really helps! I’m such a worrier 😂.. and I’m glad baba was here safely! Don’t it’s been on my mind for months and I just keep being told! So thank you 🩷

Omg my epidural was my bestest friend! I told myself my whole pregnancy nope not having epidural I was petrified over the thought of it, even when I decided to get it done I was panicking crying my eyes out to my partner and the midwife and they had to calm me down I was honestly so scared. People kept telling me ‘don’t worry you don’t feel it it’s not as bad as u think’ and I always thought yeah right🙄but they was so right! The most pain i felt is a little sting and that’s just when they numb the area, after that I didn’t feel so more pain just a cold sensation but it was kinda nice 🤣 I’d personally say u can feel more pain in a cannula being put in ur hand then an epidural. I also had a spinal block in the end and that felt similar, no pain at all! Just the sensation of it going in Don’t listen to the scary stories, it’s easier said then done because I done the same too, but there are more good then bad experiences. You’ll be fine ❤️

I had a c section is the epidural was the easiest bit trust me ! They put a numbing injection on first which stings for like a second and then the epidural which you do not feel at all! Xxx

I’ve had 2 c-sections and the spinal is totally fine! You literally can’t see or feel anything, just some slightly weird wiggling right at the start then a weird wet rushing feeling into your bum cheeks as the anaesthetic goes in. I had the assistant anaesthetist talking too me while they were doing it as distraction and didn’t really notice anything until my legs started getting numb and they had me lay down. You’ll do great 😊. Not a needle in sight.

The spinal feels like nothing (and I’m a huge chicken!). It’s the tiniest pinch whilst sitting on the edge of the bed. The cannula in my hand hurt more. It’s just uncomfortable as you kind of have to touch your ankles to bend your back a bit, which is hard with a massive baby belly. Takes 10 secs and then it’s almost instant. It’s honestly so surreal and fast that I didn’t even know these started the surgery! I was talking away about crap I’d watched on tv recently and then heard “got your camera ready? Baby’s coming”.

I had a c section 6 weeks ago and was given a spinal block. It’s kinder then the epidural as is just an injection in the back rather than the tube too. You can’t feel it and it works super quick!

I can only speak for the c section spinal block but I personally didn’t see or feel it!

Before I got pregnant I was absolutely terrified of the idea of having bloods taken, by the time I had my C-Section I was cool as a cucumber about everything 🤣 I was more worried about the cannula going into my hand than I was about the spinal block 🤦🏼‍♀️ They put a numbing local anaesthetic in my hand and my back before the bigger needles which you then don’t really feel. By the time of the surgery you’re so excited to meet little one, the fear kind of disappears. I got the shakes in my legs sitting on the theatre table but it was adrenaline not fear. The anaesthatist did my spinal block and just chatted away to me while doing it so I wasn’t just thinking about what’s going on.

I had an epidural and I wish they would have given it to be sooner during my labour, it was a game changer!

I was 10cm when I got mine for my c section… I felt absolutely nothing and it was done very quickly. It made my teeth chatter a lot and my arms go dead which wasn’t a nice feeling but actually having it done wasn’t an issue at all.
