Induced

I got induced at 1.20pm with the pessary none stop agonising contractions 5 mins apart and they will only take it out 24 hours after it’s been in which they won’t know how dilatied Iam till then any positive experiences with this had it in around 12 hours and can’t even walk go the toilet or lie down they’ve told me to get in the bath and my waters broke after they put it in and with me wanting an epidural and them not checking me for another 14 hours I’m scared I’ll be too far to have it😩

I had the pessary inserted and 5 hours later I gave birth! You can ask them to examine you sooner. I had to really push my midwife to examine me as the contractions were so strong and frequent. She was reluctant, but I was 8cm when she examined me 🤦‍♀️ it was my second baby though.

This happened to me. Had it in at 1pm waters broke at 5:30am. I was asked to out on a pad and someone would check if it was my waters. Intense contractions then began and was getting one every 3 mins, still nobody checked if I was dilated, eventually at 7:30-7:45 my body started involuntary pushing, I alerted the midwife who decided to come check if my waters had broken when she saw baby’s head 😒 was whisked to a delivery suite and him 4 mins later. Was too late to receive any medication. I would say if your contractions are intense, tell them you believe you’re in labour, would like your cervix checked and would like pain relief.

You need to tell them you NEED checked and need adequate pain relief. If you are in that much pain something needs done asap, especially with your waters broke, i know how painful contractions get at that point 🙈

I got mine taken out after 6 hours because the contractions were so intense

Still being refused for it taken out not managed sleep since 6am yesterday only being offered paracetamol apparently if I get checked and I’m too far for an epidural it’s a an achievement anyway

@Izzy this sounds brutal. It's your body and your choice, surely if you want examining and extra pain relief that's entirely up to you and not their decision?! Is there anyone else you can speak with other than the person who said no? I know people who've had it and it's happened too fast, so they've had it taken out again?! X

@Izzy ask for a different midwife, say that this is ongoing without your consent and you no longer want the pessary, you are entitled to change your mind.

I hope you’re okay, that happened to me and it turns out my womb went into overdrive and contracted back to back - they took it out as soon as an adequate midwife came and apologised that it hadn’t been taken out sooner. Advocate for yourself hun, say you want to see another nurse / midwife Xxx

They can take the pessary out whenever necessary, for me it over contracted me which was absolutely agonising and they removed it two hours after it was inserted to carry on the process and break my waters! Ask them to put you in the contractions monitor and they’ll believe you!x

Hope you are OK!

I was in labour from Thursday I got induced to full blown labour on Friday morning and I ended up getting 3 different inductions due to her heart rate and still got told I’d be fine having a nartyal birth got left without being checked or given pain relief for 10+ hours only being offered paracetamol ended up getting told I needed an emergency section and the epidural got put in 3 times and didn’t work so I had a spinal block and it’s only just wore off so I’ve been paralysed waste down it’s been horrid tbh but she’s so worth it xx
