Second time mum induction/balloon induction

Hi. Just wondering if any mums with two or more could share their experience of induction and whether it was fairly quick? And also any experiences anyone has had with the balloon induction please?

I had an induction with both my pregnancies, the most recent was last Sunday. I was going to have the balloon but when she went to insert it she could see some of my waters had gone, so couldn't. I had the drip both times. This time the drip went in around 9.30am ish, and he was born at 5.55pm. It took me a long time to get to 4cm dilated but then went from 4 to 10 really quickly. Happy to answer any questions of there is anything specific you want to know? X

I’ve been induced twice as well. First time I had the pessary and the hormone drip and it was long labour. Second time I just needed the pessary to start my labour and it went quickly from there without needing anything else.

Thank you both! I wasn’t induced first time but did have to have the drip half way through as things stopped progressing. Need an early induction this time for medical reasons. I’m very wary of induction after having friends have very long and difficult inductions but this was all first babies. The hospital reassured me second babies are often a lot smoother even with induction and I was just wondering if that’s what others have experienced really x

My second induction was 100% better than my first even though it was the same process.. my first I ended up in theatre with forceps and an episiotomy. My second weighed 2lbs more than my first due to gestational diabetes, but I birthed him by myself. My whole experience 2nd time was so much better than my first and I'll look back on this one fondly! Good luck xx

Thanks so much!! My first was also theatre, forceps and episiotomy. I desperate wanted a totally natural labour and birth this time to heal from last time so am gutted to need an induction. Your experience has really reassured me thank you x

Yeah I totally get that. This was my last baby and when I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes I was so upset that I'd not have my natural birth. However this was the closest I've ever come to it. They popped my waters, barely anything came out but when I stood up I had the gushing experience! I had an epidural because of the pain, but I felt him coming out with every push I did, minus the pain. It was amazing, I did tear but he was 9lbs 5oz! And recovery has already been a million times better than after the forceps and episiotomy I had! X

@Sam this is so reassuring to hear. I hope you continue to recover well and enjoy your little one. Thank you again xx

You're welcome! Feel free to message me and let me know how it all goes. I'll be thinking of you! X
