Free fluid

Has anyone ever had free fluid in the pouch of Douglas which has ended up harmless and not ectopic? I had an early scan today consistent with about 4 weeks pregnant so we couldn’t see much at all but free fluid was picked up in the pouch of Douglas which I’ve never had before. My provider said she thinks it’s much more likely scar tissue and that it looks like the pregnancy is in the right place but we need to come back in 3 days to confirm. I’m worried sick… no one’s looked at my uterus since I had my son (full term) but I didn’t have any complications during labour and haven’t had surgery’s so I don’t understand how scar tissue could have got there unless it happened during labour? I guess I’m looking for positive free fluid stories 😩

Free fluid can be a sign of ectopic, but it’s not specific as you can get it in normal pregnancies and even normal cycles too. It’s quite common. Sometimes you can get scar tissue from previous infections or endometriosis (it can form adhesions). Holding thumbs for your next scan 🤗xx

@Tara thank you! I’m staying hopeful given she was leaning away from ectopic and actually said she could see a string of scar tissue, I just don’t have a clue how it could have got there! Xx

I’ve had that fluid for years x. I found out couple years ago as I also have endometriosis

@Courtney I’ve never had issues with periods etc, she said she could actually see a string of scar tissue which is likely why it’s there but I don’t know how the scar tissue got there x

@Katy same I just had other issues for endo and all the tests they did for years before they found the fluid they said it’s normal to have fluid there anyways regardless

I had free fluid in my pouch of douglas when scanned at 5w+4 at Window to the Womb. I'm now 30w+3 with a healthy little girl and am having an uncomplicated, low risk pregnancy. No one had any concerns about the free fluid at NHS scans. 😊

@Lucy thank you so much, they’re definitely leaning away from ectopic and more towards it being scar tissue related, I don’t know if it happened in labour with my son but I have no idea how scar tissue got there 😂 I’m just so anxious for the follow up, especially as this is my 5th pregnancy (one living child) and I’ve never had this before, but I’ve also never been scanned as early as 4 weeks! X
