Same stuff different month

It’s been about a month since I last went into the hospital thinking I was in labor. I lost my mucus plug last night, I was having really bad back pain and contractions. The nurse did two exams and I was dilated the size of a dimple (whatever that means) and she could not get a finger through. I got sent home and told to drink water. LG is measuring almost four weeks early and weighs about 5 pounds. I’m really ready for her to be here because this back pain has become unbearable. I want to try to self-induce, but according to google (which I take with a grain of salt), if I induce labor at 38-39 weeks without a medical reason it’s abuse in my state? Has anyone else ever heard of this? Is this accurate? I live in Illinois and I’m 35+4 weeks.

There are no proven ways to self induce unfortunately. Everything is hearsay, old wives tales or recommendations that are not safe (like taking castor oil or drinking certain teas). I've also never heard of inducing labor to be abuse but I'm in NYC so things are very different here. The best thing for you and baby is to just wait it out and keep in touch with your OBGYN about the pains and things going on. Try to rest and take it easy

I would try to hold off on anything that might induce labor until 37-38 weeks. But to be fair, most natural methods aren’t going to throw you into labor before you’re ready. You could try drinking raspberry leaf tea, eating dates, curb walking, and bouncing on a yoga ball, but most likely, none of those is going to put you into preterm labor.

@Leslie I was just going to try intercourse and pumping. I haven’t had intercourse since August and I’m kinda going crazy. lol I just got told by my doctor that since everything is fine with me and baby (had to go to a cardiologist, but was given the all clear), that I am no longer high risk. I have been putting off having intercourse because my family has a history of it causing labor. My sister’s water broke with both of her children while having intercourse.

I don't think it's illegal but I'm also 35 weeks and 4 days. They want me to have a c section on the 20th. My OB actually gave me the ok to have pineapple and all the things to induce labor. If it was illegal to induce labor how would they know? If you already lost your mucus plug and they know that they wouldn't be able to tell if you induced it or if you went into spontaneous labor. Just my thought.

@Allana Nikpouri I've heard semen makes the cervix soften up but not sure how true it is LOL. That seems like a safe option. I tried with my first, didn't work, didn't work for my second either lmfao ended up being induced for him cause he fucked up my blood pressure. This time I'm being induced again for high blood pressure and diabetes! I can't get s fucking break lmao

If you’re already having contractions, sex might definitely make them worse. I’ve been having mild contractions/cramps and braxton hicks since 25 weeks and since 32 weeks sex sets off the most painful contractions 🙈 I almost went into L&D this morning after sex last night because I was sure this baby was trying to come out 😅

@Emily did you have your baby?

LG has also already dropped. Idk if that means anything.

If you where to try to induce labor it don’t mean you will go into labor right away might happen in two weeks or a week if lucky but Goodluck

@Emily You literally listed everything I did with my first once I hit 37 weeks (tea, dates, curbs, yoga ball) and I still had her at 41 weeks!

@Allana Nikpouri nope! My contractions finally died down earlier today so I’m holding off on going to L&D. My doctor told me yesterday I have an irritable uterus, so it’s probably just more symptoms of that.
