Got my date!

Today I got the date of my planned cesarean. We are very excited. Does anyone know the average hospital stay after the C-section? How long would I need bed rest care at home? Or is the recovery not that bad to need care? Is it possible to look after baby alone once home or would I need someone with me? My partner is self employed and works away from home and doesn’t get paternity leave so needs to plan in advance when to work or not, we would be reliant on his income once I am on maternity leave so we are anxious for him not to be off for too long.

It’s normally 1-2 days all being well. As for help at home I can only speak from my own experience, but I needed my partner for around 2 weeks but he had 3 off which I was glad about. Don’t do too much too soon and your recovery will be fine x

I was in hospital for 24 hours but in terms of recovering at home I needed help for at least a week my partner had 2 off which was immensely helpful. By week 3 I was doing the school run as I have an older daughter as well but I definitely did too much too quickly.

My partner is also self employed and bless him is gonna take 4 weeks off to help at home and with our little girl. Can I ask when they are gonna do your section? X

@Amy it is booked for mid November

I stayed in 3 nights but did have a large breed so they monitored me more. In terms of support I definitely needed help the first 10-14 days I’d say so if you can book for some support to come and help now that would be good.

What week were you when you got your c section date?? xx

@Rainé I’m 32 weeks. At 20 week scan they said placenta was low so wanted to do a scan at 32 weeks to check if it’s moved It hasn’t moved so it has resulted in a planned cesarean. Scan was yesterday, and got the booking/date today. Very quick and efficient.

Oh amazing thankyou, I’m currently 23 weeks but I had a C-section with my last baby who was only born last December lol so they’ve said I need to have another c section. So just wondered when I might get the date 🥰xx

I was in for just one night, left 28 hours after surgery. Not long enough, in my opinion, but they seemed to encourage me to leave. You definitely need help for a couple of weeks. The first week is really hard. It's hard to walk, get out of bed, and off the sofa. It is not an easy surgery to recover from. Make sure you have loads of paracetamol and ibuprofen ready and keep taking them, alternate every two hours for at least a week. Do not lift anything, not even a full kettle. You will feel the setback if you push yourself, so take it easy

@Rainé I’m 20 weeks and just got my c section date today for 39 weeks x

I had an emergency c section and stayed there 5 nights after. This was because LO had jaundice and I had high bp so they kept me in for monitoring. Tbh I quite liked it as I just recovered and had family tend to LO
