Group B Strep

Just been told I have group b strep, anybody else?? I’m worried I will give it to baby when he is born so leaning more towards c section maybe? Anybody else experienced this maybe with previous births? He is also currently breech at 33 weeks and I’m sort of praying he won’t turn round to avoid vaginal birth now 😭

Yes I was told this. Dome some research and it really is very rare rhat anything gets passed on. As soon as you have signs of labour, mucus plug, contractions or waters breaking just go straight to hospital for the IV Drip. X

@Charlotte thank you, reading too much on google has scared me about baby getting really poorly 🤦🏼‍♀️

If baby does get it, then yes it can be poorly for them but it is very rare. Baby will also have injection of antibiotics when they are born to ensure nothing was passed over x

I was told I have it as well and just like someone has already said, any signs of labour, waters braking, etc you just ring triage and they’ll have you in to start antibiotics. My consultant told me it’s very rare that it’ll be passed onto baby. I’m 35 weeks tomorrow and baby is head down so definitely wanting a vaginal birth x

I have this and did for my first delivery too. As soon as waters break go in and you will be put on IV antibiotics for your entire labour x

It's definitely better to be someone that knows they carry group B strep and can be given antibiotics than a lot of women who wouldn't even know so try and take that as a positive. I ordered a private test for group B strep last night just so I know if I have it or not
