I started around the same time. I checked with my insurance and they just said when I felt well enough, which I did. Make sure you're comfortable to do an emergency stop though and just check your insurer has no restrictions.

My insurance company said as long as I’m feeling ok and can perform an emergency stop. I first went in the car after 4 weeks as my eldest needed to go back to school after Easter.

Just call your insurance as long as you tell them and you feel fine in yourself you are all good x

I was about 3 weeks with my 1st and 4 with my 2nd I just double checked with insurance and they basically said it was up to me when I felt safe and up to it.

I waited exactly 5wks after my emergency section with my daughter, honestly I could've probably drove a few days earlier - but so long as you know you can do an emergency stop you'll be grand. Don't bother phoning insurance etc, I did & got nowhere as noone will take ownership in telling you it's OK to drive. I think I was probably ready to drive earlier than I did, but I was more nervous having my newborn in the back. It's unbelievable when you first drive & break how much you feel it in your lower abdomen - I had no idea there were so many muscles used to literally use the pedals lol x

I looked into this with my insurer because the advice is super woolly and vague. They might say that you just need to feel fit to drive, but you actually want to know whether you’ll be covered or not. Essentially, it’s six weeks. Doctors say six weeks and the insurance won’t sign off until the doctor says it’s ok. So it’s six weeks.

My dr said as long as I was able to push down on the breaks without feeling pain I was good to go after my c section.

I was booked for my postpartum GP check at 8 weeks but moved it to yesterday at 4 weeks 6 days postpartum because my insurance company said my doctor needed to OK me driving. My GP asked how I was feeling, checked my scar and said as long as I feel ok and could do an emergency stop she’s happy for me to drive. My insurance were super vague about if I could self-certify and if I’d still be covered so I booked an earlier GP appt to be safe. A friend was told at 3.5 weeks by her GP that she was ok to drive

My surgeon put on my discharge paperwork not to drive for 6 weeks so I had to follow that - might be worth checking yours. It will invalidate your insurance if you have it written somewhere and don't follow it x

10 days 🤣 my midwife came at 2 weeks and said I’m clearing you for driving as I was off painkillers by day 3… I said ‘oh thanks’ she then told me she had spotted me already driving 🤣 It falls under if you’re able to maintain adequate control of your car when it comes to insurance so as long as you can emergency break & control the car you should be fine. With both of mine I went out for a drive without the baby first just to check x

My doctor told me I could drive after two weeks!

I did 4 weeks! I felt like I could slam on the brakes so off I went 🚗

My doctor signed it off. Had to push for it and pay £25

I was told 2 weeks pp

I drove around 4 weeks x
