Lost mucus plug. Is labor starting?

I am currently 38w5d and have just lost my mucus plug and had bloody show. Do you think this means labor is starting soon? I have had period cramps type contractions on and off all day but they’ve been irregular and not very strong. I am scheduled for a membrane sweep tomorrow afternoon anyway so I’m hoping this increases the chances that it’s successful and baby boy is here by the weekend! How soon after losing mucus plug did labor start for other people?

It was days after when my water broke. I didn't progress to labor after my water broke and they needed to induce me. So really labor could still be days away for you who knows it's hard to tell

there’s no way to know, it’s not a determining factor that baby is coming soon. in my case however, i went into early labor just hours after bloody show. it was the period cramp feeling like you described, after almost 12 hours it turned into active labor

@Izzie @Kristen good to know! Thanks for your reply :)

I lost my mucus plug on the Sunday and went into Labour on the weds!

Sounds positive! My waters broke within 24hrs of having a sweep and I had lost some of my plug. The midwife will be be able to see how ready your cervix is. Fingers crossed baba will be here soon 🤞🤗

Sounds good but I didn’t go into labour for days after my mucus plug went after 2 sweeps🤦🏻‍♀️ I was 40+6 when I finally had baby.

I lost mine and didn't go into labour until two weeks later when they induced me and then broke my water but I wasn't having cramps so 🤷🏼‍♀️

Update! Went for my membrane sweep yesterday at 3pm and started having stronger contractions around midnight last night. They’ve been coming at regular intervals but still spread apart and not super strong. I can definitely tell the difference between what I’m feeling now and the cramping I was feeling before. Hoping this early labor phase doesn’t last too long. I am currently 2cm dilated.
