C section scar

Hey Ladies any of you recommend anything to flatten c section scar? Had my section 16 weeks ago, and the end where they have done the knotting etc it more raised & a little shelf where as the rest is flat (vain I know but it bugs me, as after my first one it was perfect looking) Looking to see if anyone has used anything that works? Thanks

Massage once healed

Definitely scar massage, using an oil/moisturiser. I’ve been doing this daily since 6 weeks and my scar is completely flat and hardly even visible. No one talks about scar massage enough but it’s incredible ! It also breaks up any scar tissue and helps repair the nerve endings x

I’ve used this everyday and my scar has lightened in color and it didn’t get raised and bumpy

@Jess is it normal to feel a little itching on the scar or slight pain when you start massaging? I'm 11 weeks postpartum and just started massage and have hard bumps feeling under the skin (especially the side they finished stitching on) and not sure if I've started too early or if that's normal.

@Steph I definitely had some itching and discomfort when starting. But not pain as such, I think if you start off very light and slowly build up the pressure/time that you are massaging for maybe that could help? Usually by 11 weeks postpartum you should definitely be completely healed and able to start scar massage. The hard bumps are likely scar tissue/adhesions, which may be causing the pain. If you find it’s completely painful every time, it may be worth getting in contact with some of the C section recovery therapists that are out there to do a an assessment on your scar and see what’s causing the continued pain x
