Plus size C section recovery

I’m 8 days post c section and am struggling with keeping the area clean and dry because of my overhang. It’s also leaking a lot of fluid, I’ve been to gp and it’s not infected but I do have antibiotics just in case. Has anyone else had these issues? Specifically the excessive fluid? And how long did it go on for?

Yes, my scar was leaking up until about 8 weeks when it seemed to have healed fully from the outside, although it has since split slightly and ended up leaking a little again! I would suggest using a pantyliner folded in between the scar and overhang as this will help to keep it as dry as possible. Once you’ve had a shower try to lay on the bed and lift the hang up as it will help to air dry is properly. x

Stick a maternity pad in your underwear where the incision scar is I find this helps to reduce the weeping plus absorb sweat etc and they're a little softer than panty liners I've found. I'm 7 weeks pp and have one part of my scar which still weeps a bit no infection just taking longer to heal. I usually run water over it in the shower and then lie on my bed lifting my belly to expose the scar and pop some gauze or cotton pads there to absorb the moisture before getting redressed x

Get a maternity pad and pop it over the incission it'll help to absorb moisture and keep it covered for slightly longer than they say x

I was told to let it air dry after a Shower by holding up my belly. I found the easiest way was to dry it with a handheld fan or use the cool setting on a hairdryer :)

Maternity pad never worked for me. I used the sterile gauze and it worked wonders. I’m 7 months PP & plus size and still have niggles and days where it’s a little red. It’s nothing major, I just make sure to give it a good wash, dry with hair dryer and ensure I’m showering at least once a day. Always welcome to message for advice x

After a shower I would blow dry it on cool till it was dry then lay on the bed flat to let it fully dry out. Then for about 10 weeks I would cut a cotton wool pleate in half length ways and “wedge it” under my belly to keep it dry. Changing it a few times a day. Had my c section in June so was mega sweaty weather x it healed up beautifully and no weaping from about 2 weeks pp x other than when I had a stitch come to the surface but that healed over quickly too x

After I showered I used diluted tcp and cotton pad to wipe over the wound. Let air dry then put a clean muslin over the top. I healed so well and zero infection xx

Yes I had this and the smell wasn’t to nice I showered everyday and cleaned I found keeping a muslin cloth as my own and dabbing it dry after a shower and throughout the day helped it will get better as the swelling goes down it will dry out more x

I use some toilet roll to dry sweat away every time I go toilet and I’ve healed up so much better since I started doing that, also air dry after a shower and I move my belly out the way at night just to let it breath and I’m now 3 weeks post partum x

I’m not a mom who has had a c section done but I just want to say to all the mamas who has . You’re all superheroes 🤍

My hospital used an electronic dressing, it basically closes off nothing comes in, best thing they ever did. You keep it for 7 days then off. I don’t know what’s the name but basically you can shower with it etc and it’s connected to an electronic thingy.

Shower twice a day making sure to dry area well Then put a cloth there to suck up extra moisture like sweat etc . Also wear breathable clothes

Blow dry the scar on cold air after a shower. Slight support in underwear, lift your tummy as you pull up and then release, allows a bit more air as underwear holds it up a bit. Wound plasters for times of day your gonna move about more increasing sweat etc. shower twice daily and make sure its reallg dry after. Lansinoh and frida mom so c section patches that are like hydrogel, a little pricey but i found them great! X

Im 5weeks post c-section and its only just started looking better, having said that I’ve been infected for the last 4 weeks so that hasn’t helped! Best thing I started doing was airing it out whenever I could and when you get out the shower lie down with a mirror pointing on it and use one of those perineal bottles (or just a cup of water) and rinse the area then use cotton pads to dab it dry. Since I started doing that the smell and liquid i had before has gone! 🫶🏻
