C section Mums

7 weeks pp. I have tried to avoid lifting anything heavier than my baby. In the last couple of days I have started lifting the pram (I have a pretty weighty iCandy) into the car and out. Do you think thats ok at this stage? Anyone else started lifting heavier things? It’s so limiting not being able to but don’t want to overdo it.

So you absolutely should listen to your body as everyone is completely different but I was lifting my toddler the next day and have been lifting the pushchair in and out of the car since about 5 weeks PP ☺️

Agree with @Terri on listening to your body, the guidelines are 6 weeks but don't take it as gospel if it's tricky 😊

It’s a hard one, because when you’re on your own you’re undoubtedly needing to lift something you probably shouldn’t daily - I honestly used to. I’m 9 weeks pp and I must admit I was lifting from the get go, I felt useless otherwise. As long as I felt well and strong enough in myself I’d always try my best to exercise to really help those muscles strengthen but I fully understand what you mean. Even leaving the house and driving somewhere requires you not only carrying the baby but then lifting the pram in and out. Even going shopping or doing the washing. Just go with how your body feels, you’ll know your limitations x

I'd listen to your body if you feel okay to do it then that's okay, I started lifting my pram in and out the car at 4.5 week PP (I'm nearly 6 weeks now) mines quite weighty as well but I feel okay doing it, I will just be sore sometimes and then ill just take it easy if I am x

I had a c section 6weeks ago and last week i started to drive again and lifting pushchair and carseat in and out of car and i think it was way too soon. My stomach started to feel very sore and bruised internally. I am still driving but i have stopped lifting anything heavy and will be resting for another couple weeks. It’s hard because you think you are ok but i think it takes months to completely heal.

Agree on listening to your body! I was lifting my toddler at 3/4 weeks PP this time and the pram (ocarro so even heavier than icandy) was a breeze at 6 weeks. I did a post partum workout class at 5W and it was tough but felt amazing and no issues. Everyone heals differently and at different rates!
