Finding it harder than I’d anticipated

I think I majorly under estimated the challenge of a c-section and recovery. I’m on day 3 post c-section and feel terrible. Finding it so hard to move around and the pain is still pretty bad. My stomach feels like a deadweight that I’m having to hold onto just to walk around. When does it get better?

It took me about a week before I was moving without a lot of difficulty. BUT the abdominal binders really really help and keeping a pillow or boppy to help support while sitting is great. And lots of ice and keeping up on ibuprofen and Tylenol.

i was feeling like this still around week 2. i just hit week 4 and feeling so much better, i still have pain here and there but i need the pain meds less and less as i recover. i still am taking it easy though because when i do too much i feel it. its mentally and physically hard, hang in there youre only on day 3, it does get better 🤍

Everyone is different! Mine took weeks and weeks. I’m 8 week PP and only feel better now. Whereas some ladies feel better within days. The advice I wish I had would be: - Don’t wash it every day - Don’t put a thing on it - Don’t push yourself, rest when possible - Hold your tummy when you laugh, cough, sneeze - Use a pillow when in the car - Keep up with pain meds for a couple of weeks - Try to straighten your torso as much as possible - Avoid bending over/leaning over when possible

Like Kellie said, do all those things, especially don't push yourself! Everyone recovers differently. I felt mostly back to normal (with pain meds) after a full week, and the rest came back slowly over the next few weeks, and I stopped meds I think 3 weeks PP. 100% keep on top of your pain medication schedule! It will not only help you feel better, but it actually helps you recover. Set alarms or reminders and take the pain meds on time, even if you're not feeling the pain, because it's better to stay on top of the pain.

I started to feel better in the second week. Still painful but much better. Make sure you keep up with your meds. With my first two csections I had percocet and ibuprofen. With this one I had Norco and ibuprofen to alternate. It did help as long as I didn't let any of it lapse.

@Kai yes 🙌🏼 I stopped taking mine after a week and regretted it! It really does help with recovery not just pain.

Stay on top of your meds if you have them. I’d say after a week I felt much better. Not great, but noticeably improved.

Everyone is different, don't be so hard to yourself momma, for me, I have walked by my own since day 2, to walk in to NCU to see my baby as he got low oxygen and breath so fast so I got to breastfeed him eventhou it was not coming out, but the nurse still gave him formula thou. I was under the care for 5 days in the hospital. I think by week 2 I got better thou, just wear the hospital socks and the pain relief injection I can do things mostly on my own but sometimes just asked my husband when get out of bed. That's all. Hope you recover soon 😊

I felt like this it was sooo hard mentally and physically as you’ve got baby to care for as well as yourself. Don’t be afraid to ask for help give yourself plenty of rest. Where loose clothing on your tummy. Seraphine maternity clothing is what I wore for weeks. Take care mama x

Day 3 was the absolute worst but for most major surgeries day 3 is always the worst but an abdomen binder worked wonders for my recovery took a lot of the pain away

I feel you, I was a wreck after my c-section. It took me 6 days to do my first stool, after that I started to slowly feel myself again. But I would say it took me about 3 weeks.

First 3 to 5 days are the worst, then it gets a little better. Mine was bad the first 2 weeks where my husband had to help me with everything: go in and out of the bed (I couldn't sleep in any position if not almost seated in the bed for the first week then I gently started sleeping on one side without moving much at night), he had to help me dressing up and everything else. It gets better. Remember you have a major surgery. First 15 days take it very easy, walk daily even a little bit don't stay totally still or this will slow down your recovery, take your meds on a schedule even if you think don't need them and rest.

You'll start feeling better after about a week. Don't push yourself xx

Day 3 was the worst for me too, not just physically but mentally my hormones were crazy I couldn’t stop crying. It gets better ❤️

Hold on mama. It took me about a week and a half or so to feel human again (I was hospitalized a few days after my c section for preeclampsia too so that was a contributor to me feeling awful). It’s been 3 weeks now and I’m feeling soooo much better. Not feeling my prepregnacy self yet but definitely human!

I had a lovely experience but was in agony for about 8/10 days following. I then literally woke up one day and felt totally fine!! I’m 6 months post partum, my scar is almost invisible and (best bit) my downstairs is totally unaffected, unlike a vaginal birth! I would say to keep taking the max pain killers you can and accept / ask for help. As long as the kitchen and bathroom are clean (get someone else to do it!), the rest can wait. Hope you’re on the mend soon xx
