Expectations Glan Clwyd - Labour Day

Can anybody tell me what to expect when arriving at Glan Clwyd on the day? What do I need with me? What does the hospital provide? FTM if it wasn't obvious enough 😅

Hi lovely, I had my little one at glan Clwyd this year. Feel free to message me! Xx

I also had my little one at Glan clwyd. X

I had my baby there 6 months ago. They provide you with formula of you aren’t breastfeeding which I didn’t know! They also give you a little wash bowl and cotton balls for washing the baby. I think that’s it to be honest 😂 take your own towels, your own maternity pads, breast pads, toiletries. If you are going for a vaginal birth then 100% buy a peri bottle (was a life saver)

They first monitored me for about half an hour or so I think it was and then I was induced with a pessary. Once that was done they monitored again then I was taken to the ward. When I was there 2 years ago..they provided me with pre-made milk bottles once I’d ran out of my own supply but they only had a few brands so if you’re deciding on a specific brand then I’d take quite a few, that’s of course if you’re not breastfeeding. They do provide maternity pads if you don’t have your own but I’d suggest taking your own and always pack more than you think you’d need. Take comfy clothes and definitely some things to keep you entertained because you don’t know how long you’ll be there, learnt that the hard way🤣 I also took my own little hand fan because the rooms do get quite hot. Make sure you have your birth plan with you. I’d definitely take some snacks or drinks with you because the food wasn’t great🤦🏻‍♀️ to message me if you have any questions, character count is getting me now🤣🤣

I had a baby 3 months ago there 😊 however, was left in the waiting room at MAU for 4 hours in labour 🤣 but otherwise had a decent time otherwise. Had amazing midwives and students. I was in labour over 3 shifts 🤣 Take your own tea bags, mug and milk with you or coffee if you drink that. The tea is crap machine is crap! Also take loads of snacks for yourself 🩷

I had my little one there 4 months ago and had a really good experience! My labour wasn't the most straightforward so I pretty much had a whistle stop tour of every way you can birth 😂 started in the MLU, they were brill, the head of the unit is wonderful. I had the birthing pool and was there until transfer to Labour Ward for an epidural because I had no breaks between contractions thanks to the little guy sitting on my sciatic nerve the entire time! I was looked after by a midwife and the ward sister, they were both awesome. They helped me discuss options because a C-section was on the cards. Even got to chat with the surgeon and had support no matter what option I went for. My wishes were put first so I was super happy and had a great experience even after a difficult labour, a stay in hospital, and a run in with an obstetrician that put the fear of god in me! Character limit got me too so feel free to message if you wanna know more! 😊

Midwives are lovely there...haven't got much to say good about my experience there last year though..make sure a trainee doesnt do your epidural without asking you first aswel....consultants don't listen to the midwives. All the best...take more stuff than you think you will need. Feel free to message
