Silly C Section Questions 😂

1. Do I wear underwear/disposable briefs under the gown when going into surgery? 2. How soon after the surgery am I allowed to shower? 3. How soon after the surgery can you expect to start bleeding vaginally? 4. Those that were on the list for a 12pm slot, what time did you get the go ahead it was actually going ahead, and what time did you actually go into theatre? 5. How soon after did you have something to eat? Conscious you’re fasting for a good 6hrs + before so I imagine I’ll be starving 😂 Sincerely, a very anxious scared first time mum 💗

Hey, I can answer based on my experience. I didnt wear anything under my gown, but I had been trying to birth naturally so was already like that. You can shower as soon as you want, I didn't get the energy to do so until a few days as I was so tired. I started bleeding straight away Cannot comment on 4 as I was emergency I was totally starving, so I was a bit groggy for a few hours but as soon as I was moved onto the ward my partner found my chocolate stash and then the nurses came round with a sandwich for me Don't be anxious, will be totally fine, you got this. But happy to answer any other questions, appreciating my circumstances were a little different as unplanned xxx

I was asked to take my underwear off when changing into my gown. I showered about 24 hours or so afterwards/when I was strong enough for it. I also started bleeding straight away. Mine was emergent so I don’t know for 4, but they brought me food 4 hours after surgery and told me I needed to eat though I had no appetite and really didn’t want to

Based on my elective c-section: 1. You won't wear anything underneath the gown 2. They'll try and get you up to walk and shower around 8 hours later. This is not necessarily a thorough shower but to get you to walk, have a quick rinse and I got in my pyjamas. Had a proper shower the next day and it was amazing 😅 3. I think I started about 12 hours after surgery and apart from day 2, it wasn't as much blood as I'd expected. 4. I got in at 11am. Was told I'd be number 4 or 5 that afternoon. Don't actually know what number I was but baby was born at 4.15pm. 5. I had tea and toast a couple of hours after baby was born. I was so hungry all day but wasn't actually as hungry after the surgery as I thought I'd be. Had a big takeaway when we got home the next evening though and that was absolute heaven 😂 Being anxious is normal but the whole experience from the moment you arrive at hospital is so relaxed. I just chilled in bed for a few hours until they called me down to theatre.

Thanks so much ladies! X
