Carry toddler after c-section

This is going to be quite a while ☹️ I pushed myself too much and had blood and stitches come undone but I’m guessing it’s 6 weeks but tbh even after that heavy lifting may make it sting

My little girl was 17 months when I had my son. My partner had 3 weeks off work so he did all the lifting but as soon as he went back to work, I had no option 🤷🏼‍♀️ had to lift her in her cot for naps and in her highchair for meals. I was cautious and tried to use my arms to lift instead of my stomach but sometimes you have no option but to lift sooner. Just take it easy, I’m sure you’ll be ok 😊

You should wait 6 weeks to lift anything heavier than your newborn. The guidance is there for a reason. My son was 18 months when my youngest was born, we prepared him by teaching him to walk up and down the stairs alone (with me holding his hand), we took the side off his cot so he could climb in and out alone but had a stair gate on his door. There’s ways you can make them more independent especially at 2.5.

I had pre op today and they said no heavier than baby is recommended for 6 weeks 🥹😭 I’ve got a mammys girl at home so dreading it

Yeah my little girl always wants me but for weeks now I’ve been making her dad do it so she gets used to him x

I lifted him a week after because I just forgot I shouldn’t and I started having really bad pains and bleeding and my scar started to bleed a bit but not sure if it was the cause. Because of that after that I was super careful but maybe started lifting him only when I had to from about 4 weeks but generally tried to avoid it until my scar closed properly at 8 weeks. My son was mummy’s boy and not lifting him was hard so I asked my husband to limit lifting him too so he learns that he can be hugged on the floor and hand holding when waking outside.

I’m nervous about this, my husband leaves the country for a week 3 weeks after my c section so I won’t really have a choice. He’s only 14 months so lighter than 2.5yr old but it does mean he still needs a lot of lifting and carrying 😬

I use a chair for my toddler to climb on and then it’s much easier to get him into the cot from there or onto change table. But I’ve also sometimes lifted him (3 years) since 3 weeks pp and it was ok. But of course it can not be ok, so it’s tricky. But also felt like I had no choice in a few situations

I worry about this same thing! Mostly getting him in and out of his crib. He does a pretty good job of climbing every other time.

I'm 12 days in and I feel really sad when my 2.5 year old asks me to pick him and says please 😭 I try my best with him just sat next to me hugging me or sitting on my laps I think definitely just try wait as long as you can my little boy slept with me literally till the day I went into hospital so it really makes me upset tbh 😭💔
