C-section preparing & any advice for after?

I have opted for an elective c-section at the end of this month and have been researching how to help the recovery and scar tissue post op as I’m (vain I know) a little worried about the overhang people talk about and really want to do everything I can to help the scar and my recovery as starting to panic a little bit! I’ve seen that lymphatic massage can help, I’ve also bought the Fridamom silicone scar patches and also abdominal support binder. Is there anything else people would recommend, any good scar creams or anything people have done that helps?

I would focus on getting through the recovery aspect first. I think alot of people forget the pain of recovery and then downplay it when asked. I had an elective c section and everyone told me it was so easy and simple and had no pain. Maybe it really can be, but you should prepare for the worst. Have your home set up so that you minimize bending over, have a comfy set up for breast or bottle feeding, have a chair that's easy to get out of, have a phone charger thats extra long and positioned so you don't have to bend down and get it. Keep taking your prenatals and drink lots of water

Have your pregnancy pillow with you to help with comfort on first night as you struggle to move about so use it to support your back etc. for cleaning the wound I used the micro bacterial wash they give you to use pre op and this did amazing with helping me heal and avoid infection or scabbing. I’d recommend using pure coconut oil on your stomach above as the skin became dry feeling and it helped me with the discomfort at first. As for everything else just focus on relaxing and sleeping as much as you can to help you heal better. As for overhang I haven’t really got much and never used anything to avoid it as my stomach was too tender to have things touch it x

I wouldn't worry too much about buying specific things just yet, I'd wait and see how your recovery goes as you won't be able to put anything on your scar for at least 6 weeks anyway. I'm 4 weeks pp and mine just looks like a thin red line and the overhang went down loads and is now barely there. I plan on doing some scar massage after 6 weeks but that's about it. Focus on recovering, take things easy and it might heal way better than you think :)
