I was induced for reduced fetal movements. Unfortunately, the induction was unsuccessful for me. When I arrived my cervix was completely closed. I had the pessary, 3 lots of the gel and still only 2cm. They were able to break my waters but contractions were still not strong enough so was given the drip. After several days I opted for c section due to exhaustion and my biggest regret was not opting for this sooner as I started this whole thing so tired from lack of sleep. I really hope you have a better experience (as many do) but if things aren't progressing you don't want to tire yourself out too much! There were lots of ladies on the ward that were induced and had their babies within 24 hours. Most were already dilated when they arrived or it was second baby (if that helps at all). Good luck and hope all goes well. Other than the tiredness I can't say it was an awful experience or anything 🙂

@Kelly yh that’s my issue that it won’t work, my waters have been leaking but my cervix is closed, i’m hoping to get her moving n my cervix opening before my induction as i don’t want to go in and not progress and have to get a c section

I had a pessary and cervix was still closed so I had a gel and my contractions started pretty much straight after and was in labor for 4 hours xx

@Holly i’m just getting the gel to start x

@Abi I would! My hospital said they have to do a pessary first sure why but the gel worked for me straight away! xx

Let’s just hope your hospital is capable of accommodating inductions… I’ve been in hospital since Wednesday waiting to go onto labour ward to have an ARM and they still haven’t taken me over… not enough staff/not enough beds/more labours than normal… every excuse in the book so far… I’ve never felt so alone in all my life… the lack of care here is shocking… fyi I’m a student midwife who has worked over different health boards and never experienced delays to this magnitude ever.

@Kirsty i know hospitals at the moment are really struggling, i hope you get seen soon
