Waters breaking?!

Hey! I was just sorting babies clothes out, and as I moved, a clear liquid basically came out and went onto the bed. I only felt it trickle but there was actually loads. It smells really sweet and not like wee? Also didn’t feel like I wee’d either (which happens quite a lot lol) I’m 38+4…. any recommendations on what I should do?! asking you all as I don’t want to ask family (don’t wanna tell them I’m in labour if I am lol) Thanks in advance 🤍

Sounds like your waters. Contractions will probably start within 24 hours but you should let your labour ward know x

Sounds like your water broke! It’s going to keep coming out, for a really long time. When this happened to me, I called my maternity ward to get advice. They said if it’s clear, no need to come in. It has green or brown in it to go in right away. I wore adult diapers and pottered around the house, and had a few showers. Contractions started soon after they broke and about 7 hours later I went to the hospital to get checked.

You need to call your hospital and check they don’t want to check you over. It sounds like your waters have gone. I’d highly recommend resting, excercises on your ball, doing all you can to increase your oxytocin (feel good hormones) to try and get things moving as the hospital will want to induce you after 24 hours. Try not to feel anxious or stressed you need to stay calm, have a warm bath and do things that make you feel good to help get things going. You don’t have to be induced you can just keep an eye out on your temperature to check for signs of infection as that’s the only reason why they’d want to induce you to prevent an infection.

I am low-key stressed haha. We were meant to go to the theatre tonight (poor choice from me lol). I’ve put a pad on, so I’ll check it shortly and see if it’s got anything on it. I’m not sure if this matters but I’m also currently taking meds for a bloody UTI aswell! I’ll give them a call and see what they recommend. Thankyou 🤍✨

@Ellen I’ve phoned them! They told me to go in 12 hours after they went so I’ll go in at 1:30 am to check. The back pain now though is quite bad! Baby is proper pushing his head down too😅 I don’t feel prepared hahaha oh lord

Currently in the same situation! Just rang the maternity ward and they’ve told me to go in to be checked, I’ve not had any labour pains or contractions and baby is moving fine but defo leaking a little…

@Chloe I’m glad you’re getting checked out! Let me know what they say ✨🤍

Mine trickled with my first. Call them x

@Ellie I have! Gotta go to hospital at 1:30am as they like to leave it 12 hours. I’ve had quite bad pains but not enough to think I need to go in yet x

I’m so excited for you. Enjoy the wild journey - you’ll be holding your baby before you know it.

It wasn’t my waters :( monitored baby, did my obs and checked my cervix with a speculum and no sign of my waters, put it down to increase of discharge… which I’m not disputing but seemed odd as it was such a gush of thin fluid! X

@Chloe oh no :( oh bless you. It’s so strange isn’t it! Bubs will be here in no time though hun! I’m in quite abit of pain now. Most pain is in my back but the last 10 mins it’s been lower tummy! I feel sick 🤢 I’m hoping this is it starting as I don’t think I can go on like this for another week and half 🤣x

@Ellen thankyou lovely 🤍

Best of luck Angel! You’ve got this!!! 💗

@Chloe so… turns out mine was discharge too?! I’m honestly baffled cos that did not look like any form of discharge haha! so fed up now🥺

Oh bless you! Isn’t it disappointing! I was so surprised, even tho it wasn’t the theatrical cover the floor gush you see in films, it was a sizeable amount that I clamped my thighs together and grabbed my partner in panic 😂 I’m just so desperate to have him here now any sign and I get super hopeful 😢 hopefully not long for you now love xx
