Anyone delivered at St. Joseph in Burbank? How was your experience?

@Amanda did you have any problems having to travel a bit further while in labor? Was parking easy?
I didn’t deliver there however I was in an accident while pregnant and had to stay in the maternity ward. And I truly feel great about my experience and felt trust there completely. I want to note I have commuted for work while pregnant and I can be transparent when I thought my water broke and also during active labor I’ve had to endure long distance drives to get to my hospital and you’ll be fine even if it’s 45 min if you get some traffic, I just recommend a vibey playlist to keep you focused and in a non stressful state! You also can ask any nurse at any location if you aren’t a fan or you feel rushed or unheard to switch with a different nurse. It’s your legal right so do not feel you can’t advocate for yourself or your partner for the both of you. I know the sense of feeling of wanting to control all aspects of delivery but control what you can and trust your doula and the process 🫶🏼
I delivered there 3 yrs ago, not with MY OB cuz she was out of town that weekend ( baby was born a month early). My first OBGYN was Dr Cashee, we did not like her because she has ZERO bedside manner and she is known for that. However she was on call to deliver babies the week I delivered and I honestly didn't have regrets about that. She is VERY knowledgeable and she does communicate & tell you the game plan if things need to change ahead of time for any reason. (My baby was born premature, I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia the week I gave birth). The nurses were all very welcoming we had 4 different labor nurses (different shifts) and 2 delivery nurses. I was in the hospital for about 4 days, and my baby was admitted to the NICU. They were all aware of our delivery plan, and made me feel comfortable. I was born there in 89' so it was important for me that I felt safe and comfortable & had the best experience. We do not have the best OBs out here but you can ask your OB if they can deliver at ST Joseph's.
Parking was easy, literally right next door and if you tell them you are in active labor they wheelchair you in. We were scheduled to come by my OB on a Thursday and we delivered the baby on Monday by dr Cashee. I honestly wouldn't recommend any other OB. Dr Cashee is critical, straight to the point and she will not sweet talk you about how wonderful this journey is for you and your partner and you'll be such a great parents, no not at all. Dr Borden followed up with me once after I was discharged and then put me on birth control which is not what I wanted at all. She was dismissive and gave me little time after I gave birth. She was my recovery dr since my OB had left the office, and I suffered from postpartum for a yr, she never said anything, never detected it. Didn't ask if my baby was latching or if I was having a hard time. Since I've given birth 3yrs ago I hope new Drs have been added to that Burbank Drs office.
I also gave birth during the height of covid so things were VERY different back then, but I am wishing you a happy and healthy delivery! They are one of the best hospitals here in the valley. If we ever extended our family in the future St Joseph's in Burbank is where I'd want to deliver for sure.
@Wendy Thank you. I don’t need to control every aspects, but I also don’t want for it to be an uphill battle every single step of the way. Consent is huge for me. My husband and I also feel strongly about having skin-to-skin contact, a no-judgement zone, and being informed of why a medical procedure is necessary. Some hospitals are more used to those things, some aren’t, so we just want to know as we don’t know anything about the hospital or the area.
@heidiee thank you so much for sharing your experience! I heard about Dr. Cashee as well. It puts my mind at ease that despite some hiccups, which are to be expected, you’ll still come back to the hospital. It’s also good that they took good care of you and your baby despite complications!
Parking is easy. It costs money, but it’s easy. Like I said my doctor and the nurses were great, they encouraged us to do skin-to-skin, they were very supportive and helped me a lot with breastfeeding but the only thing I didn’t like was I delivered my baby on Thursday morning, and Friday night I was discharged! The next day, Saturday, I had to get back and my son went to NICU, he had jaundice!
I did and loved it! They made me feel very comfortable and cared for. I ended up having my daughter very quick so it wasn’t a long labor but it was my first and They made me feel very at ease, especially because my husband wasn’t there.
I did! It was fine. All the nurses were very nice and very attentive to my baby and me! I’ve had no problem at all! Also, my baby had to be at NICU for a week, I have no words to describe how good they were with my baby there!
